I don’t know how long Cam is out on the porch calling my name, but eventually, she closes the door and walks back inside.

“You’re so fucking wet, princess. Did the thought of getting caught turn you on?” he asks.

I don’t answer, feeling the pleasure rise. I know I’m so close.

“I’m so close, Cole,” I moan.

“Come on, baby,” he says, thrusting harder.

We both come crashing down together, my arms still wrapped around his neck, my face buried in his shoulder.

“You’ll be home tonight, right?” he asks, pulling away.

“I told Cam I’d stay the night,” I tell him, adjusting my dress.

“Figure out a way to come home,” he demands before walking back inside.

I put my face in my hands. What the fuck is wrong with me? Why does he have this spell over me?

Why am I trying my hardest to figure out a way to ditch my friend to go home to her brother?

What kind of person does that make me?

I wander back into the house, Cole nowhere to be seen. I push my way through the crowd of people before I find Cam and her boy toy tucked away in a corner.

“Is everything okay?” she asks, getting up from the couch she’s sitting on.

“Not really,” I tell her.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m not feeling good at all. I think I need to go home,” I lie.

She grabs my arms, her eyes searching my face, and concern lacing her features.

I feel terrible. But apparently not terrible enough to drop the act.

“Let me take you back to my house,” she insists.

“No, I don’t want you to miss this opportunity,” I say, gesturing towards her friend. “I’ll just go home, take some meds, and hopefully sleep whatever this is off.”

“I don’t like the idea of you being alone,” she says.

“I’ll be fine. I don’t want to be a downer,” I insist.

“Can I at least find you a ride home?” she asks.

I contemplate telling her no, that I’ll call an Uber and everything will be fine, but she looks so worried about me.

“Sure,” I reluctantly agree.

I watch her walk back over to the couch, whispering into Jax’s ear.

“Mason will give you a ride.” She grins.

She’s still trying to play matchmaker even after I’ve lied and told her I’m sick.

“Cam,” I warn.
