“You’re hurting me,” I say, tears filling my eyes.

I’m so angry at myself for not getting myself out of this situation faster.

I try to turn my face, but his fingers grip my chin forcefully.

“I get what I want. I will have you. I’ll have you screaming my name and begging me for it before too long.”

He presses his lips against mine, biting my bottom lip when I don’t return the kiss.

“I think it’s time for you to go home. Next time I think you’ll be a little more receptive to me. Don’t you think so?”

I stand up quickly, adjusting my dress and smoothing down my hair.

I follow him outside to the car. The driver looks back and forth between the two of us. I don’t miss the concern for me in his eyes.

The ride back to my house is unsettling. It’s quiet, and Jasper never takes his eyes off me. His anger is still evident.

When we pull into the driveway, I go to open the door. “Hold on. I wouldn’t be a gentleman if I didn’t walk you up to the door,” he says, his voice sickeningly sweet.

He follows me up the stairs, hands immediately gripping my waist when I stop in front of the door.

“I expect you to behave next time.” He whispers the warning in my ear before sliding his tongue across my neck. “I will get what I want.”

His finger brushes across my bottom lip. I look down to see blood tainting his thumb, making me put my fingers up to my lip. It’s bleeding. Probably from him biting me.

“I’ll be seeing you,” he warns.

I unlock the door, rush inside, and lock it behind me. As soon as I’m safely inside, I let the tears fall freely, sobbing as I slide myself onto the floor.

“Princess?” Cole comes into view.

I didn’t even know he was home.

“What the fuck happened?” he asks, his hands touching me everywhere. “Are you fucking bleeding? I’ll kill him.”

“No, please don’t go,” I tell him, grabbing his waist, wrapping myself around him.

He settles on the floor in front of me, letting me latch onto him.

“He hurt you and I want to kill him,” he says.

“Please help me,” I whisper, making him freeze.

“What happened?” he asks.

“Did you get my messages?”

“No.”

I replay the evenings events to Cole, watching the rage overtake him with each word.

“I will get you out of this. I promise,” he tells me, cupping my face.

I believe him. I have to. He’s my only hope.
