“We’ll come back as soon as we wake up and see if we can talk them into letting you out of here. Don’t worry,” Delaney says, walking over to hug me.

I look back and forth between the two of them, narrowing my eyes.

“I’ll be out there in a minute,” Clark says.

Delaney and Mitch leave the room, and I immediately look at Clark.

“They’re fucking,” we both say at the same time, then start laughing.

“How hypocritical is that?” I say, leaning back against the pillow.

“In his defense, you never told him he couldn’t. He did, however, tell me I couldn't be with you or Mallory.”

“First of all, there’s like a seven-year age gap between the two of us. You weren’t thinking about getting with me.”

“I know this but try explaining it to him.”

“He just knows how you are.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he acts offended.

“I’m fucking with you,” I tell him, laughing.

“You want me to stay tonight? he asks.

“No, I want you to get some sleep,” I tell him.

“I’ve got to go get a new phone first,” he says.

“Why?”

“I lost mine at the accident site,” he says, frowning.

“See, you have things you need to do.”

“I’d stay here if you wanted me to,” he says.

“I know.”

He leans down, and I think he’s going to kiss me, but the door opens, so he stands up instead.

“We’ll talk later, okay?”

“Yeah,” I tell him, watching him leave.

Delaney walks in, smirking between the two of us.

“I can’t wait to get the details on all this,” she says, waving her hand between me and the spot that Clark just left.

I flip her off, making her laugh.

“I brought you something,” she says, walking over to the bed.

She hands me Mal’s journal and I look at her confused.

“It was sitting out in your room. I didn’t know what had happened or how long you’d be here, and I just thought you might want her here with you.” She shrugs.

“Thanks, Del,” I tell her, and she bends over to give me a hug.
