“We need to get back,” he says, pushing himself away from me, removing his hand from me, his cold demeanor back just as quickly as it left.

I push the disappointment down, hoping he doesn’t catch my slip, gathering my dress up from the bottom again, even though it’s already thoroughly soaked.

I follow him back up the beach. Neither one of us says anything about what just happened. What could you possibly say anyway? Thanks for the orgasm from just your dirty, filthy mouth?

When we get back to the group, it’s almost as if no one even noticed we were gone. They’re still drinking and laughing, even with all the rain falling down. I glance around the fire, looking for Delaney, and lock eyes with Riley instead.

She’s glaring at me. Her eyes look me up and down. I’m sure she’s trying to find any indication that we were doing something we weren’t supposed to be doing, but she won’t find it on me. I know how to wipe the guilt right off my face. Not to mention, you’d have to feel bad to feel guilty, and I can’t find it in me to care if she gets hurt or not.

I watch Clark walk over to her, not really getting too close. I wonder if he’s worried she’ll smell me on him.

“Where have you been? I was worried fucking sick,” Delaney says, grabbing my arm.

“I told you I was going for a walk.”

“I know, but then it started storming. Are you okay?” She looks me over.

I hope she can’t tell that I just had the best orgasm of my life, without even being touched.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” I tell her, brushing her off.

She frowns but doesn’t push it. She knows not to push it with me.

“I think I’m ready to go, though,” I tell her, my eyes glancing over in the direction of Clark and Riley. She’s trying to cozy up next to him, and he’s trying to do everything he can to keep it from happening.

I walk towards her car, pulling the passenger door open, sinking down into the seat.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” she asks, climbing into the driver’s side.

“Do you have a cigarette?” I ask her, avoiding her question.

She looks at me like I’m nuts, and maybe I am.

I watch her dig in her purse before she pulls one out, handing it and the lighter over to me. I can tell she’s looking at me, but I’m doing everything I can to avoid her stare.

The rain is falling heavily on the car window. I trace my finger over the glass, making shapes and staring out into the dark, taking a long drag.

“I’m worried about you,” she whispers into the dark.

I’m worried about me too, but I’m not going to scare her with that information.

“It will all be okay.” I try my best to reassure her.

My voice is dead of any emotion, so I’m sure that concerns her.

“Can we go back to the house?” I whisper.

“Sure,” she says, buckling her seatbelt, backing out of the parking lot.

I don’t look back at the party raging behind us, because I’m afraid of what I’ll see. I don’t need any more reminders that Clark is someone that I’ll never have.

Once we’re back at the house, I walk inside without a word, heading straight to my bedroom. I peel my wet clothes off, grabbing a matching set of black, lace panties and bra.

My door opens, so I grab a black silk robe from my bed, but not fast enough, before Clark steps inside.

“What are you doing here?” I hiss, panicked eyes looking behind him into the dark hallway.

“Why did you leave?” he asks, his eyes raking over my body, causing me to pull the robe up and close it tight around myself.
