“At least we look hot,” she finally says, wiping her eyes.

“Thank you for this,” I tell her, squeezing her hand.

“I’ll always be here for you. I’m sorry I haven’t been the friend you need.”

“You have been. And you still are. I’d be lost without you,” I admit.

“Come on, are you ready to go home?” she asks, standing up and offering me her hand.

“Absolutely,” I tell her, definitely over this party.

“Let’s go find Justin and let him know,” she says.

We walk out of the bathroom, arms linked, making our way through the crowd.

After what feels like hours, we still haven’t found him.

“Let’s just go. I’ll call him later,” I tell her. “I’m exhausted and my emotions are all over the place.”

“Okay,” she says, looking around the room once more.

She looks like she has more to say, but she doesn’t.

Once we’re home, both of us head into our bedrooms to change. I’ve never been happier to take clothes off in my life. I decide to hop in the shower quickly, hoping that the hot water can help drown out some of the shit that’s festering inside of me.

“Wanna watch a movie?” Delaney asks, outside of my bedroom door.

I’ve just gotten out of the shower and am rummaging through my drawers for a pair of shorts.

“Yes, please. I’ll be out in a few minutes,” I tell her.

My phone chimes on my bed, and after I pull my shirt over my head, I walk over, picking it up.

Justin: Where did you go?

Marley: I wasn’t really in the mood to party anymore. We looked for you, but never found you.

Justin: Weird. Can I come by?

Marley: I’m about to have a movie night with Delaney. Can we shoot for tomorrow?

Justin: Sure, I’ll call you.

I toss my phone back on my bed. I think I need a break from it for now. Heading out into the living room, I find Delaney already curled up on the couch.

“I thought you got lost in there,” she says, laughing.

“Justin texted me.”

“What did he have to say?”

“Asked where I went. We made plans for tomorrow.”

“How are you feeling?” she asks, throwing her blanket over me when I sit down.

I shrug, because honestly, I’m not sure.

“I don’t know. This whole feeling thing is kind of new to me,” I say.
