"And your boyfriend?"

"Ex-boyfriend, remember? I broke up with him," I say softly.

"So, you're available."

Ivan takes off his boxers, letting them rest on the beach, and I gasp as he walks towards me. I quickly turn my back to him, and warmth engulfs every part of me as an irresistible urge surges. I've never seen a man naked, and I don't want Ivan to be the first.

I hear the swishing of water come towards me and feel a strong arm wrap around my waist. "What do you say, Cassidy?" Ivan whispers into my ear from behind. I can feel his warm breath on my neck giving me goosebumps.

I'm officially lost in the moment. All I can think of is how much I want him to kiss me. I feel his bare chest against my back. He turns to me to face him.

“What about–”

He places a finger on my lips. “Don’t mention other women.”

I slap his finger away. “I’ll say what I want.”

He pulls me closer to him. My bare breasts press against his hard chest, my nipples tighten, and every part of me vibrates with awareness.

“I didn’t know that woman was going to be here. I was with her for one night and one night only.”

“The night you met me.” I don’t know why that upset me, but it did.

He nods. “You rejected me. No woman has ever done that before.” He runs his finger along my jawline. “You bruised my ego, and those women …they helped me feel better.”

I fight the rising lust burning low in my belly as I look up into his bright hazel eyes. A lock of light hair falls across his forehead. “How many women have made you feel better since that night?”

“None. Those two did not quench my need for you, and there has been no one since.”

“I don’t believe you.”

The moonlight dances off the waves around us.

“I might be many things, Cassidy, but a liar isn’t one of them.” His fingers trail along my collarbone. “I want you to admit that you want me.”

“I…I can’t.”

“Just say it.” He looks into my eyes. “It’s just the two of us.”

I pull my lip between my teeth. “I want you.”

“Then, let’s do something about it.”

“It’s not that simple, okay. You make me think about…” I look away shyly. “I’m thinking about things I shouldn’t be.”

“Cassidy,” he says gently. “It is that simple. I want you, and you want me too. That’s all there is to it. We can figure out the rest later.”

Shae says I make things too complicated, and maybe she’s right.

I swallow hard, considering his words. He's right, this is simple. It's just two people who want each other and need to make a decision.

“And how do I make you feel?” He says, moving closer.

“Like there’s a fire in my bones,” I answer quickly, my cheeks warming.

“Then you’re feeling the same thing I am.” He draws in closer, his lips inches away from mine. “Let’s take a chance.”

I don't answer him. My heart thumps wildly in my chest, and I can hardly breathe.
