We continued chatting with Gavin and Carrie for a couple more minutes, and after they walked away, Stan, always the cryptic one, warned me about their clubs. They were not the typical nightclubs.

I leaned in closer. “What do you mean, Stan? Are they dangerous or something?” I asked, my tone curious but also skeptical. “They are not being run by mobs, are they?”

Stan let out a laugh. “No, Spencer. They are not part of the mob,” Stan replied, a mysterious glint in his eye. “Let’s just say, these clubs cater to a very specific type of clientele, people who like to indulge in their desires and darkest fantasies with others who share similar interests.”

I felt a rush of excitement, mixed with a hint of uncertainty. “What kind of fantasies?” I pressed.

Stan let out a deep, hearty laugh. “My dear boy, that’s half the fun, discovering what goes on behind those doors,” he said, tapping the invitation in my hand. “All I can say is, be prepared for the unexpected. And keep it on the low. Like I said, this is not your typical night club.”

I nodded, taking in Stan’s words, but my excitement was uncontainable. I was ready for an adventure, to push the boundaries and live a little. With a grin on my face, I made my way back to London.

Despite Stan’s warnings, I intended to bring her to the event. It had been too long since we last let loose, and I was tired of playing it safe and following everyone else’s rules, starting with my demanding grandmother.

I gazed once more at the invitation, which stated I could bring a plus-one, and my pulse raced with the idea of a night of pure joy, sprinkled with a hint of danger.

“Why do you look so excited?” London asked with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

“It’s just a surprise I have in mind for us,” I replied, slipping the invitation into my pocket. “Where are your family members?”

“They had to leave. My parents are flying back to California in the morning.” She sighed, but I caught a hint of relief in her voice. “Now, spill the details about this surprise that you’ve got up your sleeve,” she said, her eyes twinkling with anticipation.

“We’ve been invited to the grand opening of a new club next week,” I revealed. “I just met its owners, someone Stan knows. But enough about that, I want to know your surprise.” I took a step closer, eager to hear what she had in mind.

“Oh, it’s a good one,” she said, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “It involves The Plaza and the jacuzzi bath in your hotel suite. I believe there’s room for two.”

“Oh, I see,” I said, my heart pounding with anticipation. “So, what are we waiting for?” And with that, I swept her off her feet and whisked her away to my hotel suite, eager to make the most of this unforgettable evening.

TWENTY-SIX

LONDON

I was sittingin a noisy café when I told my friend Mercedes about going to a new club called Show and Tell. Her shock was palpable, but not because Spencer and I were going out, because I hadn’t told her who my date was. No, it was the specific club that caught her attention.

“I don’t think you understand what kind of club this is,” she said, giving me a stern look.

“It’s just a private nightclub for the rich and famous. What’s the big deal?” I replied, taking a sip of my coffee.

“Hold on, let me clarify for you,” Mercedes said, scooting closer. “Show and Tell is Gavin Manning’s latest venture. He’s the mastermind behind Club Prive, one of the city’s most prestigious and infamous private nightclubs. Are you aware of the reputation that comes with it, girl?”

Her words gave me pause. What reputation?

“Come on. How bad can it be? There’ll be hundreds of people around me. I’ll be fine,” I said, trying to sound calm.

“I know you will, darling,” she replied, her voice gentler. “Just be cautious, okay? Don’t let anyone pressure you into doing something you’re not comfortable with.”

I nodded, taking a sip of my coffee, shaking off the unease that had settled in my chest. But the more she told me about the club, the more excited I became about exploring it with Spencer.

* * *

I pickedout my outfit with great care, wanting the evening to be perfect. Considering what Mercedes had told me about the club, I’d decided to be bold and wear somethingnotmade for me by Carson; a daring emerald green mini dress with a halter lace-up back and diamond cut out just below my breasts. The glittering material made my legs appear longer and revealed a lot of skin. Ever since I bought the dress, I’d been waiting for the right occasion to wear it.

Upon Spencer’s arrival, I knew I’d picked the right dress. “Bloody hell, London,” he growled in a low voice as he saw me, revealing his amorous and possessive nature. I twirled slowly, allowing him to see the full length of my bare back and confirm that I was not wearing a bra. He caught my arm before I completed my rotation, stepping close enough that I could feel the heat from his body.

“You’re testing my self-control,” he said. “I don’t know whether I want to take you against the wall right here or forbid you from going out in that dress so no one else can see you in it.” His words sent a shiver down my spine.

“Well, the club is called Show & Tell,” I replied.

He growled low in his throat and tightened his grip on my arm, making my heart race. “At least make sure you’re wearing something to keep you warm,” he said, releasing me and stepping back. I held up my long dress coat, showing him it would reach my knees.
