“My schedule is crazy right now what with all the studying.” She sent me a pointed look.

I grinned, not one bit sorry for taking up her time. “Sure, but this sounds like a perfect opportunity for you. Don’t you want to inspire leagues of future female football players?”

“Yeah, but I’d planned to focus on my own playing for the next couple of years. The inspiring wasn’t supposed to happen untilafterwe won the championship—twice.”

I laughed and fought the urge to kiss her right there in the dark parking lot. As if she could read my mind, her lips curled into a slow smile. The air between us heated, and I took a step toward her.

Mac let out a sharp whistle, shattering the moment and saving my ass from a huge mistake. “Let’s go, RJ. I need time to primp before I take the stage.”

“You could ride with me,” I reminded her.

She waved at Mac and sighed. “I think Eva wants to play dress up. Why don’t you head over there with Noah and get us a table?”

I actuallyhadforgotten Noah, who’d followed us outside and stood lounging against my car. A cold wind blew Riley’s scent to me, and the control I’d gathered while dealing with the public disappeared. I’d never be able to visit the showers without hearing her come all over my face.

An unfortunate situation considering I showered with a bunch of guys who wouldnotunderstand.

Riley laid a hand on my arm, and I realized I’d zoned out, probably because all the blood in my head rushed to my cock.

“You okay?” she asked.

I cleared my throat. “Yeah. I’ll take Noah and meet you guys at Johnny’s. After…”

Fire heated her eyes, and she nodded. “After.”

Johnny’s wasa dive bar on the outskirts of town, but they served the best pizza… and they didn’t look too hard at IDs. To Mac’s eternal joy, they also hosted karaoke on Saturday nights.

As usual the place was packed, but I’d called ahead on the drive over to let them know we’d be coming in with a group. Way back in my freshman year, Soren had worked out a deal with Rebecca, the manager. If we came in regularly and played nice with the customers, she’d give us the big table any time we needed it. All we had to do was give her fifteen minutes of warning.

At first, I’d felt guilty kicking people out of their seats, but they were always excited to hang out with TU’s football players. Well, almost always. There was that one time when a couple of assholes on the hockey team came in and tried to swing their dicks around, but they’d been outnumbered and wisely found another bar to ruin.

They may be skilled—for hockey players—but this was Texas. Football was king.

I left Noah at the table, with instructions to order several pizzas, and stepped outside to wait for the others. Night had fallen, but Johnny’s had plenty of outdoor lighting in the form of beer signs.

My phone vibrated with an incoming text, and I smiled at Eva’s warning.

Coming in hot. Get your eyeballs ready.

I idly wondered if she knew the reason Mac insisted on coming tonight was because he didn’t want anyone messing with her. He loved singing, but I’d bet he’d watch Eva like a hawk all night. One day, those two would admit their feelings for each other, and I’d have to move into Riley’s place to avoid seeing them naked together.

Which also meant I’d have Riley all to myself, all the time.

The sign behind me buzzed loudly, and I grinned at the thought. She’d lose her mind if I suggested moving in—not that I’d blame her. We already spent most nights tangled up in bed at my place or hers, usually mine because her bed was a joke.

Luckily for us, no one seemed to care about the comings and goings in our respective apartments. Mac, Noah, and I made ourselves at home in their place, and Eva had her own chair in our living room.

On the occasional night we were apart, I found myself waking up over and over again reaching for her. The world around me quieted while I let the thought settle. I liked the notion of my bed being the only bed she slept in, maybe too much. Riley and I hadn’t talked about the future, but I didn’t think she’d considered living together—being together—beyond the current football season.

Mac pulled up in his Jeep with the passenger window down and leaned over Eva in the front seat with a big grin. “I got a present for you, Shaw.”

I frowned at him, and he laughed as Eva swatted him off of her. The window rolled up, and I squinted at the tinted glass blocking my view of the back. He’d left with Eva, Riley, and three cheerleaders. Had they all squeezed back there or had Riley managed to slip away?

Eva got out of the car first, in her usual party outfit of a tiny dress and stilettos, despite the impending snow. I shoved my hands in my jean pockets to ward off the chill, waiting for Riley to appear from Mac’s giant excuse of a clown car.

The back door opened, and the three cheerleaders tumbled out in similar outfits. The last one pulled the seat forward, and my breath stopped. Riley carefully climbed through the opening, and I belatedly held my hand out to help her.
