With a quiet groan, I slipped away from Chloe’s warm body and started the search for my clothes. After peeking out her door to make sure I wouldn’t surprise Eva, or worse Mac, I strolled naked into the living room.

My suit was neatly draped over the couch with a sticky note of a smiley face attached to the crotch. Eva must have come home at some point. I slid on my pants and gathered the rest of my clothes, intending to run across the hall for a clean outfit, talk to Shaw, and maybe come back over here to coax Chloe into the shower with me after training.

I checked the time, relieved when I still had fifteen minutes before I was supposed to hit the weight room with Mac, Shaw, and RJ. They’d have questions, but I’d spent years honing my no comment skills.

Before I could make it out the door, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and frowned at the screen. Another unknown number.

As a matter of habit, I didn’t answer any calls from people not in my contacts list. It wasn’t usually a problem, but ever since I was featured in that article, I’d been getting a lot of spam calls. Weirdly, this one had called me a couple of times before. Most recently, last night.

Nope. I wasn’t interested in whatever they were selling. I sent whoever it was to voicemail and picked up my clothes again.

Next to me, Chloe’s door swung open with a slight squeak I hadn’t noticed earlier. She stopped in surprise when she spotted me and smiled smugly as her gaze dragged over my naked chest.

“I wondered if you were going to remember your pants or if I missed a true walk of shame across the landing. I admit I hoped for the latter.” She leaned against the doorframe, dark hair wild around her face and a red mark on her neck barely visible over the collar of her robe. Hunger licked at my gut.

“I’ll get naked for you anytime you want, Trouble.” I dropped my stuff on the floor at my feet and took a step toward her, ignoring the hand Chloe held up. “Miss me already?”

She pressed her lips together, smothering the smile I saw lurking there. “Don’t look at me like that. I know you have training today, and I know how important it is. Your spring practices just started, and I’m not about to be the reason you get injured.”

I ran a hand through my hair, clawing back the overwhelming urge to say forget training and practice in favor of locking both of us in her room for the foreseeable future. “I expected you to sleep longer.”

“Yeah, well, the bed lost a lot of its appeal when you got out of it.”

A grin took over my face. “I’ll only be a few hours, but you could try my bed. I wouldn’t say no to finding a beautiful woman hogging all the covers in there when I get back.”

She propped her hands on her hips. “Ido nothog the covers. It’s not my fault my blanket isn’t big enough for your massive—”

I cut her off with a kiss. Chloe curled her arms around my neck and opened her mouth with a sigh. For a minute I let myself sink into her, drowning in memories of last night and fantasies of what I’d like to do to her next.

All too soon, though, I eased back. “I can’t get enough of you.”

Chloe’s lips twisted as she tilted her head. “You need to go or you’re going to be late. Eva wanted me to do a karaoke thing later, despite my insistence I had no interest in singing. She invited Blue, so I might be able to get out of it.”

Mac had cornered me with the same karaoke thing, though I’d forgotten until just now. Alex was hosting a Sunday Funday to test out his new material. Mac wanted to go right after training. Well, after he’d primped after training.

I’d much rather have Chloe all to myself in my big bed, but Mac was proud of his contributions. Besides, there was always after.

I kissed her nose and stepped back to collect my things for the third time. “Don’t worry about it. We’ll go to karaoke, and maybe I’ll finally get to meet this friend you and Eva keep mentioning.”

Her eyes narrowed. “You don’t like meeting new people.”

“Not particularly, but you smile when you talk about her. Even better, I like spending time with you.”

She flapped her hand at me. “When did you get this good with words? Go. Build bigger muscles. I’ll meet you at Johnny’s with the rest of the crew.”

I waggled my brows at her, backing across her living room with my clothes clutched in my hands. “And you’ll come home with me after?”

Chloe let out a little laugh, and her smile hit me right in the chest. “And I’ll come home with you after.”

I couldn’t ask for a better night.

Karaoke was a gross understatement. When Eva, Blue, and I stepped into Johnny’s that afternoon, nothing could have prepared me for the sheer amount of glitter covering every conceivable surface.

“What the actual fuck,” Blue breathed out next to me.

I’d only been in there the one time before, so it wasn’t crazy to think this was normal décor for a Sunday afternoon. Blue’s wide eyes and vaguely defensive stance made me reconsider.
