I grinned at him. “Yet. I’m finishing college first.”

“Deal, as long as I get to wreck you in the meantime.” He sat me on the counter, spreading my legs with his hips, and I couldn’t hold back the needy moan.

“I don’t know… you going to get on your knees for me?” I teased.

He chuckled as he knelt on the tile. “Whatever you need, Trouble.”

EPILOGUE

Four months later…

“Surprise! I’m back.”

I blinked at the sight of Eva standing amid a cluster of luggage in the living room. I’d had the apartment to myself all summer, and I hadn’t expected her back until next week. Well, mostly to myself. Noah was basically an extension of me at this point, so he didn’t count.

“You’re backearly.” I grinned and squeezed her into a hug.

Eva had left as soon as the semester ended, claiming she needed a summer away. Her parents continued to pay her half of the rent while she lounged at their beach house, terrorizing the local male population. I suspected she’d run away from the Mac aftermath.

He’d spent the summer moping in the weight room, and he didn’t suggest a single party after Eva left. It got so bad RJ banned him from coming with her because he ruined the vibe. In the last two weeks, he’d started to return to the old Mac, though a less manically happy one. At least he’d stopped quietly singing sad songs to himself.

Eva and I had talked regularly, but I’d made it a point to avoid the topic of Mac. Now I stood hugging her in one of Noah’s shirts and my undies because she hadn’t told me she was returning early.

I pulled back and touched the pink streaks in her blonde hair. “You were right. Purple would have been too much.”

Eva shook her head to fluff the strands, then stopped with her gaze trained on the second bedroom. “What’s going on with my door?”

I blinked, then realized what she was talking about. The door was a pale blue with a chalkboard sign listing my schedule for the week. “Oh, right. I sort of turned your room into an office. I needed more space after Noah insisted on getting a giant ass bed for over here too.”

Eva darted over to peek into my room, but I jumped in front of her. When I’d heard the front door, I’d thrown on the closest shirt and left Noah sprawled face down, bare-assed naked on the bed. He was a beautiful specimen of man, but he was my beautiful specimen, and he wouldn’t appreciate me sharing the sight. Not that I wanted to.

“Maybe start with the other room. We should probably end there too.”

Eva raised a brow, but she let me steer her toward the other bedroom. “You know I’ve seen Noah naked before, right?”

“Don’t care.” My mind immediately called up all the ways she might have seen him naked. “Wait, I do care, so I expect the story of naked Noah later, but his butt is for my eyes only now.”

She snickered. “Yours and the entire football team’s.”

I rolled my eyes. “Fine. Them too.”

She gasped when I opened the door, and I stood back to let her get the full view. Harper had been working my ass off, so I collaborated with one of the design students I met in classes over the summer to redo the room with the goal of an efficient workspace.

“This place is gorgeous, Chloe. Did you do this?”

“I had help—a lot of help.”

We’d settled on a modern boho look with white furniture, glass and metal accents, and rich textures sprinkled throughout. I had soft pillows and cushy blankets and a collection of succulents I hadn’t killed yet. Every time I stepped into this room, I felt my future reaching out to me.

But now Eva was back.

When I glanced her way, she was watching me with tears glimmering in her eyes. “I’m so happy for you.”

To my surprise, a full-sized duck sans diaper wandered into the room and quacked at Eva.

I stared at her with wide eyes. “I thought you were giving Henry back. You said it was temporary.”

She threw her hands up. “It was. Henry was perfectly behaved here, but the second I left him in the pen he got destructive. Alexis was talking about having to get rid of him because they were about to get in some new babies.”
