He grins against my mouth. “Good. I don’t do relationships.” He moves my knickers to one side and eases into me. “But when you’re fucking me, it’s only gonna be me. Understand?”

“Too exclusive,” I mutter, closing my eyes and enjoying the feel of him filling me up. “Fuck who you want.”

He grazes my shoulder with his teeth. “Don’t test me, Red. I don’t share.”

“Take me as I am.” He withdraws and slams into me hard, causing my body to jolt. “Fuck,” I cry.

“I’ll kill every man you fuck that isn’t me,” he warns, then he places his hand over my mouth to stop me answering. He fucks me hard until I orgasm, pulling out right before he comes and pushing me to my knees. I take him in my mouth and swallow his release.

I stand, straightening my clothes as he tucks himself away. “Business and pleasure remain separate,” he says, “but I meant what I said.”

“Albert—” I begin, but he cuts me off with a glare.

“I’ll take you home.”

ALBERT

Rosey was jealous. That’s the reason she came back into that room. She might not be ready to admit it, but I know I’m right, and even though we’re not ready for anything serious, I’m pushing her for exclusive sex. What’s the point in denying what we clearly both need from each other?

We get in the car, and she hands me a piece of paper. “I need to go here.”

I frown. “It’s almost midnight.”

“I can read the time, Albert. Are you going to take me, or should I call a cab?”

I drive, heading for the address. “It’s right on the boarder to the Abbey Estate,” I say. “Is there a reason you want to head into a territory we’re fighting to own?” She remains silent, and it annoys me. “Red, if you’re going to see a guy—”

“What if I am, Albert?” she snaps, turning to face me. “What if I’m about to go fuck another man and—”

I pull the car onto the road’s edge and slam on the brakes. I grip the steering wheel tightly. “You can keep fighting me on this,” I warn, “or you could just accept we’re happening and there ain’t shit you can do about it.”

She stares forward, her arms folded stubbornly across her chest. “Why me?”

“What do you mean?”

“Why are you so obsessed with having me to yourself?”

I turn to her, grabbing her chin in my fingers and forcing her to look me in the eye. “I already have you, Red. You’re mine, you just don’t want to conform. But you will, trust me on that. Now, tell me where the fuck we’re going.”

She hesitates before saying, “To see my mum.”

I release her and put the car back into drive. “See, that was easy.”

We arrive outside a block of flats. There are groups of youths hanging around despite the time. It’s something we need to get a handle on, so we can win the trust of the residents here. I get out of the car, and Rosey eyes me. “I don’t need you to come in.”

“I wasn’t waiting for permission,” I counter.

She rolls her eyes and leads the way. We pass a large group of youths who nod in greeting, and I fix the biggest of the group with a glare. “Anything happens to that car,” I say, pointing to where my car is parked, “I’ll come for you.”

He nods. “Got it, Mr. Taylor.” And then, he rides his bike towards it.

We climb three flights of stairs because the elevators are out of action. Rosey checks the address on the piece of paper again before knocking on the door. A man yells something inaudible before her mum pulls the door open, her expression one of anger. It soon dissolves when she sees her daughter. “Rosey,” she whispers, glancing behind her nervously before stepping out into the passageway and pulling the door to, “I didn’t expect you.”

“Why give me your address if you don’t want me to show up?” she asks.

“That’s not what I meant. I just didn’t think you’d come here. Have you seen the time?”

Rosey glances at her watch. “I find the best time to catch someone off guard is during the night.”
