“It’s a few miles away from their base,” Arsenio says, snapping his lighter closed and pocketing it. “So the plan is to do some recon there tomorrow. You and I will go, and if we can time out the route, we might be able to cause a distraction at their base and lure away those guards.”

“Then we can destroy their supplies, cutting off their income and their stock,” I say, finishing his thought. I look back at the screen, tilting my head as I examine it closer. “If we can get a gauge on how many bears are guarding the place, it might help in planning how large of a distraction we’ll need.”

“Exactly,” Arsenio grins conspiratorially, his eyes lighting with excitement. “And if we’re successful, they’ll be off balance and sloppy as they try to regroup, which will give us the opportunity to get the upper hand and finally stop them once and for all.”

I can’t help but grin back at my mate, the lights shining down on his red hair, casting it ablaze. It seems to flicker like the flames he loves, the fire which would frighten many seeming to calm him.

“I’ll come with you,” Zeke says, stepping up to my side. “It would be better if the three of us go in case anything happens.”

“Actually, I was hoping to ask if you’d be able to train me,” Zayn says, speaking for the first time since we entered the office. He swallows thickly, hope beaming in his light grey eyes. “It’s become clear that I’m not exactly equipped to be in the thick of everything, but I want to be because I’m not going anywhere.”

He looks to Zeke, breaking our eye contact reluctantly. My chest warms at the step he’s taking, choosing to honor the promise he made to me in the car. There is so much the two brothers need to work through, and it eases some of the worries that had been brewing since our trip to the city to have Zayn bridge the gap.

Zeke looks from his brother to me, indecision clouding his stormy gaze, but his lips quirk to the side. I let my feelings flow through the bond to him, reassuring, understanding, and hopeful. I want this. I want all of them, and that includes Zayn. But most of all, I want both of them to have the closure they so desperately deserve, the closure Zeke helped me find.

His eyes flutter closed as my emotions flood the bond, and when he opens them a moment later, I swear they’re a touch softer than they were before. That beautiful light shines through the clouds once more.

“Okay,” Zeke says with a deep breath and reluctantly turns back to Zayn. “We’ll start tomorrow.”

Zayn nods in agreement, a grin forming on his lips as he bounces lightly with anticipation. He might have his own reservations, but I can tell that he’s excited, both to connect more with his wolf and spend time with Zeke, whether he’s ready to admit it to himself yet or not.

“And Zayn.” Everett’s booming voice cuts in. “You might be Skylar’s mate too, but as of right now, you are a guest in our pack. If you ever defy our orders or put our mate in danger, I’ll make sure it’s the last time you ever step foot in Endcliffe. Understood?”

I can’t even argue with him. I already told Zayn something similar in the car earlier, which is why Zayn nods in understanding, his eyes flicking to mine with a soft smile before meeting Everett’s icy glare.

“Understood.”

“Good,” Everett grumbles. He stands from his chair, meeting each of our gazes as the gravity of what we’re about to do sets in. “Let’s get this done.”

He’s right. This could very well be the turning point for our packs. This intel is the best we’ve gotten so far, and we have to use it to our advantage, meaning no one, other than a trusted few, can know about this.

“Sky, wait,” Everett says, his voice a booming echo, stopping me just as I’m about to follow the others out as they file from the room. They all give me sympathetic looks before they abandon me.

“What is it?” I ask, crossing my arms over my chest, and lifting a brow. His gaze darkens as it dips to my cleavage, and I gulp, my mind automatically drifting to what happened in the dining room. His eyes rove over my curves as though he’s imagining showing me what else those thick fingers can do.

Dammit, now I’m imagining it too.

His expression sobers a moment later, snapping me from the thick fog of lust clouding over me.

“Sit.” Everett steps out of the way and gestures towards his chair. He holds my gaze for a moment, his tone and stern expression allowing no room for argument.

Well fuck that.

“You could say please,” I say with an indignant huff, my feet firmly cemented in place.

“Sit before I make you.” His voice is a deep rumble, the seductive tone sinking into my bones and releasing a languid heat rushing through my limbs.

A shudder of desire rolls over my skin, my mind going in a completely different direction than he meant it—or maybe...

I sigh, cutting off that thought before I let my mind run wild again, and stride over to his side of the desk. My elbow brushes against him as I walk past, sending a sharp twinge of pain through my arm from where I scraped it earlier.

A hiss escapes my lips, and I wince before I can stop the reaction.

“Sit,” he grumbles again, and I mutter a curse under my breath as I sink into his large office chair. He ignores me as he stoops to collect something from the bottom drawer of his desk.

“Can you hurry this along? I need to—”

“Clean your wound,” he finishes for me, cutting me off.
