“Be right there,” I hollered back as he walked to his office carrying a bottle of Jack.

“Hey,” I began, tilting Callie’s chin so her eyes met mine. “I’ll explain what’s happening to Crow. Shouldn’t be long.”

“Fine.”

Fuck. She was pissed, probably because of the club girls.

“Listen, my goddess. There ain’t a single woman in this room who compares to you. You’re right here.” I tapped my head and my heart. “You feel me?”

She released a shaky breath. “Maybe.”

I lowered my head, capturing her mouth in a sultry kiss that I purposely poured enough passion into to make those muffler bunnies back off. No room for doubt. Callie was mine.

A few whistles erupted, and some lewd comments followed.

I lifted my middle finger, flipping the room off.

Callie shook her head when we parted. “You’re crazy.”

“Only about you.”

I reached into my cut, pulling out my keys. “Have a drink or whatever you want while you wait. You can go to my room too if you need a break from the party. It’s the third door on the right on the second floor. Stairs are at the end of the hall.”

She accepted the keys, dropping them into the purse she always wore, the strap resting across her chest from shoulder to hip. “I think I can manage.”

Yeah, I knew she could.

“I’ll look for Bree. We need to catch up.”

Searching her eyes, I couldn’t help feeling she was sent into my life for a reason. Maybe fate. Who knew?

But all I could think about as I walked away was how those gray eyes saw the real me, and she hadn’t run yet.

Oh no, he didn’t.
