My head was still reeling from the body-jolting pleasure when he swept me into his arms. He carried me to my bed and laid me down. Hungry for him, I grabbed the waistband of his jeans and pulled him to me. He grinned as he dropped next to me, clearly knowing that not only had he pleased his woman well, but that he was about to take her on an even better joyride with his cock.

Eager for it, I shimmied out of my slick panties and tossed them aside. He shifted over my body, straddling me, commanding me with those stunning green eyes of his. He knew I liked that. Obeying him, I unfastened his jeans, and slipped them off his hips, liberating the giant, rock-hard erection that only a lovesick eighteen-year-old boy could produce.

I sat up, never taking my eyes off his as I stuck my tongue out and slowly drew it up the length of his straining cock. When I reached the head, I gave it a long, hard suck, swirling my tongue around the tip. The low rumble he emitted sent me through the stratosphere. He pushed me back onto the mattress and maneuvered himself between my thighs.

He reached to floor and fumbled with his jeans, pulling a condom out of his pocket. I watched eagerly as he slid it over his length. He lowered himself onto me, and I felt his throbbing manhood against my wetness, but before he entered, his mouth moved to my ear.

“I love you, Rachel Bradly.” He looked me dead in the eyes, and I saw my entire future with this beautiful boy. “Someday, I’m going to give you the world. Until then, you have all of me.” With that, he sank himself inside me tantalizingly slow, filling me to the hilt.

My legs wrapped tightly around his slender waist as my body rocked in harmony with each of his powerful thrusts. All the while he repeated in heated whispers, “Rachel…my god, never stop loving me, please.”

“I’ll always love you, Rhence, always,” I moaned. “You are my forever.”

The next morning, my mother walked in on us, and nothing was ever the same.

Chapter six

Rhence

“Howmuchlongerisit going to take to bring the product to market?” I ask one of my lead software engineers on Tuesday morning. Our competitor is threatening to release theirs by Memorial Day. If they beat us to the punch, this new operating system is seriously screwed.

“I got this, Rhence,” Steve replies. “Those few snags during the trial run were to be expected. It’s all under control.”

“I want to see it operating flawlessly by the end of the week, no excuses,” I say, eyeing him sternly, refusing to return his grin. I’ve been cutting him slack for too long now. “Do whatever it takes to make it happen.Understood?”

“Yeah, no problem, consider it done,” he replies cavalierly.

I shoot a look at Parker. He nods. If Steve doesn’t deliver this time, we’re pulling him from his lead role.

“All right, meeting’s over,” I announce as I rise from my chair. Everyone else follows suit and files out the door.

Parker makes his way over. “The guy’s a joke. That’s the last time we hire a former college buddy.”

“Yeah, but he wrote the code for the onboarding interface,” I remind Parker. “We had to at least give him a shot at quarterbacking the whole thing. Friday, when he walks in here with nothing more than excuses, we’ll pull him off it and put Hiroko in his place.”

Parker laughs. “He’ll fucking quit if we do that.”

I shrug as I grab my laptop off the conference table. “That’s his choice. I’m more concerned with keeping the talent happy, which means presenting Hiroko with something he can sink his teeth into.”

“Just be ready for the fallout,” Parker says, walking alongside me. “Steve thinks the new system is his baby, and he fucking hates Hiroko.”

“So, remind Steve what’s at stake,” I say. “Tell him to get his shit together and deliver.”

“Aye, cap’n,” Parker says with a ridiculous salute.

I grin. “Douche bag.” I glance at my watch as I head to my office. It’s 9:38 a.m., which means Rachel should be arriving soon for our 10 a.m. meeting. I’m annoyed at how my heart leaps at the prospect.Stay on course and don’t let yourself be distracted, I admonish myself. I can’t dwell on how brilliant and sexy she is. I have to remember the pain she caused.

I should remember how upon our recent reunion, Rachel didn’t even have the decency to apologize for all the horrible things she’d said to me. She stubbornly refused to acknowledge that she’d been dead wrong in underestimating my worth and casting me off like I was nothing more than a plaything she’d grown bored with. She had the unmitigated gall to act as if somehow, I’d wronged her!

How could she have been so blind to the fact that she had been everything to me, and that the callous way she dumped me nearly killed me. Some nights, I think the only thing that kept me alive was my burning desire to prove her wrong and to someday make her feel my pain.

And that pain took me down some very dark roads. I fell in with some of my dad’s old acquaintances and put every illegal drug I could into my body, anything to shut out the agony of losing Rachel. I was on the same path as my old man and probably would have ended up in an adjacent cell if I hadn’t met Mark Medici.

Mark recognized I had a keen mind for computers and brought me into his business to help him cook his books. I knew he had mafia connections, but at the time I didn’t give a fuck about much. After about six months of learning the trade and perfecting my craft, my confidence slowly began to return. I developed a vision of myself that could win Rachel back. I knew she’d have nothing to do with me in the crime world, so I decided to go legit and earn a degree in computer science. Mark agreed to finance my education as long as I kept running my software to turn dirty money into clean.

The startup money for Horizon Inc. came from Mark. He’s the silent partner that not even Parker knows about. Parker thinks it’s just a high interest loan we’re paying back. But as long as Horizon Inc. keeps the money flowing in, everyone’s happy.

I enter my office and set my laptop on my desk. The corner office has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. I walk to the north-facing side and peer out at the skyline. I close my eyes and take deep breaths, willing my heart to settle down.
