There’s silence as he considers me. “You don’t have to do that. I meant what I said.”

“I know, and that means everything. I’m not saying I want a ring right now or tomorrow, or want to walk down an aisle or whatever anytime soon, but I’ll do all that withyou. Because you want it, and so do I.”

“One day.”

“Yes.” I have a feeling it could be sooner rather than later because there’s something about him as my husband. But that’s down the track, and we’ll know when it’s time.

“Princess, will you marry me?”

“Yes, Mack.”

We kiss again, and it’s a seal, a promise, a coming together.
