I gave her a moment to respond to my question while the two of us ate. The food was delicious, and I could see why it was such a difficult restaurant to get a reservation for.

Thankfully, my name had had enough clout to get us in. It wasn’t often I pulled strings that way, but for Georgia, I would’ve done anything.

When we were about halfway through our meal and she still hadn’t answered my question, I decided I needed to ask it again. “Georgia? You were going to tell me your concerns,” I prompted her.

“Oh, yeah.” She took a deep breath. It was pretty clear that she hadn’t actually forgotten but just didn’t want to tell me. “I’m concerned about your wife.”

Georgia wasn’t pulling any punches now, clearly. Her words stung a little, but then, anytime I was forced to think about Kaylee, it stung. “In what way?” I asked her.

“Well, I think it was seeing her picture that evening that made you want to go out and get drunk,” she said with a shrug. “It seems like you’re still hung up on her, and that worries me. And after you lost your first child, I’m also concerned that you might not want to have kids. Having children is a must for me. Anyone who doesn’t want to have kids can no longer be on my radar.” She spoke eloquently and with meaning behind her words. I was impressed to hear her express herself so clearly.

I took a moment to gather my thoughts so that I could react appropriately. When I began to speak, I knew that what I was saying was coming from my heart. “Georgia, I loved Kaylee more than anything. When she died tragically in a car accident, I was devastated. It took me a long time to recover from that, and from the death of our child. That being said, I know that Kaylee would want me to move on and be happy. I’m ready for that now. I know that I am. I am ready to find another woman that I can be with, someone who makes me feel as happy and carefree as I did with her. I’ve found that person in you, Georgia.” I couldn’t help but reach across the table and take her hand.

I thought her eyes looked a little misty as she asked, “You have?”

I nodded. “Yes, assuming you are willing to give this another try?”

“I want to,” she admitted. “I just—what about kids?”

“I love kids,” I reminded her. “I definitely want kids, Georgia. Sure, it’ll be hard to go through another pregnancy, but I know it’ll all be worth it in the end when I hear that baby cry for the first time.”

Her face broke into a wide smile. “I’m so glad to hear that, Beau. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. You make me feel so happy, like I can be myself. Like I don’t have to worry about what anyone else thinks.”

“You’re an amazing person, Georgia. You know how to make me laugh, how to make me smile. When we’re together, I’m just Beau Ramsey, not Beau Ramsey billionaire.”

“Billionaire?” she repeated. “As in… with a B?”

She’d had no idea. Feeling a bit sheepish, I shrugged at her. “Yeah.”

“Oh. Wow.”

“Does it matter?”

Quickly, Georgia shook her head. “No. You could be Beau Ramseyten-ionaire, and I wouldn’t care.”

That made us both laugh. “If that were the case, I suppose you’d be paying for this dinner.”

Again, we both broke into laughter.

“I do have one more question, though,” Georgia said. “When I was tucking you into bed that night, when you were wasted, did you think I was Kaylee?”

I felt my eyes widen slightly at the question. “No, definitely not,” I assured her. “I don’t remember all the details from that evening, but I do know that I was aware of who was helping me.”

She nodded, looking slightly more at ease. “Good because you said, ‘I love you, Kaylee,’ so I wasn’t sure.”

My heart skipped a beat thinking about it. Taking a chance before the waiter got to us, I said, “Well, I meant what I said. I’ve just never been good at names. I love you—Georgia.”

Her cheeks pinked, and her smile widened even more. “I love you, too, Beau. Now, why don’t you pay the check, and come back to my place?” She bit down on her bottom lip, and I knew exactly what she wanted.

The waiter would have to wait. Leaning across the table, I pulled her close to me and smothered her mouth with mine—she was mine.

GEORGIA

Driving back to my apartment with Beau’s hand on my leg, I found myself mashing the gas pedal all the way to the floorboard more times than once. Traffic was light, lucky for me, which made it easy to speed. I had to keep reminding myself that being horny wasn’t something to die for.

“What about your car?” I asked Beau as my exit came up ahead of us. “Are you just leaving it at the restaurant?”
