She smirked. “That’s not nice.”

“Fine, bring a plus-one,” I said. “I just hope he can swim.”

“You’re bad.”

“In the best way possible,” I retorted.

“Your first meeting is in fifteen minutes,” she said and got to her feet. “Go to the bathroom, get some water, and fix your tie.”

“Yes, ma’am.” I stopped her before she walked out of the office. “Macy, pack your bags for our cruise and make sure you include that black bikini. I don’t think I got to appreciate it enough at the waterfall.”

She was laughing when she closed the door. I had already made sure her room was next to mine on the cruise. I planned on sneaking her in or sneaking into hers. Eventually, we were going to have our own vacation that didn’t include the rest of the staff. I wanted to be able to be with her without worrying about someone seeing us.

The first journalist was shown in by Macy before she left us alone. I answered the questions with ease. I could talk about my watches all day. As always, I gave credit to my dad for establishing the company. I made sure everyone knew it was his values that were adhered to. We were nothing without him.

It was close to the end of the day when Macy knocked on my door again. “Last one for the day,” she said. “How are you doing?”

I nodded and eagerly accepted the cold water. “I’m fine. I don’t remember ever talking this much in a single day.”

“Everyone has left with a smile on their faces,” she said. “I’ve made sure everyone got an informational packet with all the pertinent information.”

“Let’s hope they stick to talking about the watches and not about me,” I muttered.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“My personal life has become fodder for gossip rags,” I said. “Everyone wants to know who I’m dating. It’s a little obnoxious when I’m trying to talk about what the watches can do and the question is about a woman.”

She didn’t look all that pleased. “I wasn’t aware that was a thing.”

“I got named bachelor of the year or something like that,” I said with a sigh. “Since then, it’s been hard to keep a low profile.

“Poor you,” she pouted.

“It’s a little annoying,” I said. “Really.”

“I’m sure you will survive,” she said. “I have to leave right at five today. I’m picking up my mom. Will you be okay?”

“I think I’ll survive, but I will miss you.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” she said.

“Do I get a kiss goodbye?” I teased.

“Jon!”

I laughed as she walked away. I loved teasing her. After finishing the last interview of the day, I was fried. I was looking forward to a cold beer and some downtime. It felt like we’d been running uphill for months. With the launch behind us, I could take a breather. In another couple of weeks, we were going to start it all over again with the next launch.

I collected my things and headed out of the office. Most people were already gone for the day. I made my way downstairs and had just walked into the lobby when I heard someone call my name. I looked around and saw a brunette waving at me. She looked vaguely familiar, but then again, I met a lot of people in my line of work. And maybe outside my line of work.

“Hello,” I said in an attempt to be friendly.

“Jon!”

She gushed my name like we were old friends. I noticed one of the reporters I had met with earlier sitting at one of the tables outside the coffee shop in the building. He was busy working on a laptop, but I saw him notice me. I didn’t want to look like a dick.

“Hello,” I said again. If she knew me, I didn’t want to offend her by admitting I had no idea who she was.

“Hi,” she said, smiling. “It’s you. I thought it was you, but I couldn’t be sure. How are you?”
