"Living together."

"But we are. Do you feel comfortable there? I know we haven't had a chance to personalize it for you, but we can. We’ll do it ASAP."

"Um. No."

"I'm going to need an actual reason."

"I think... I don't even know what we are."

"We are Kiara and Kylian. And I am going to throw the biggest tantrum you have ever seen if you move out of my apartment."

"Kylian!" I poke him in the arm, trying to get out my frustration for him being so difficult.

"Kiara! Look, you can’t go back to your apartment for obvious reasons. And you haven't found another apartment... right?"

"Right. But I should start looking."

"So then... just stay."

"It's not as easy as that. We have been doing whatever this is for like a week. That's too soon for me to move in."

"Yeah, but why?"

"Because... everyone knows that!"

He shrugs. "I don't know that."

"That's because you're so dumb!"

That makes us both burst out laughing

We spend the rest of the drive arguing, but when my family's home looms in front of us, the sight instantly sobers us. We both agreed not to mention anything about us, other than the work. It’s too soon, and unlike with the apartment, he seems to agree with this.

He taps on the steering wheel, pulling his sunglasses on top of his head, and says, "I wish I had kissed you one last time before we got here."

"You could. But you're not dressed for the shit storm that will come after."

“You never know, your dad might be glad you're with me. He likes me.”

“Yeah, my dad isn’t who I'm worried about." That goes without saying and we both know it.

Nathan’s reaction to things can be hard to guess sometimes, but his best friend having sex with his little sister was not one of those things.

"We're here," I yell out as we walk into the house.

Kylian follows a few feet behind. He better get that worried look off his face or else Nathan is going to definitely know something is going on.

"Kiara! My girl!" My father shuffles in from the garden to greet us. "I missed you for lunch today. But I didn’t want to make you have to come meet me twice this week."

"I would've been happy to, Dad," I say and lean over and kiss his soft, wrinkled cheek. He looks like he needs to get more sun and I tell him so. "Get the gardener to set up a little bench for you near Mom's rose garden.

"He's too busy."

"He works you for Dad, he's busy with doing what you tell him to do."

"Ahh," he waves away my words. "I have this patio set here, that is plenty for me. I came from humble beginnings."

"Dad. You inherited 600 million pounds."
