“Selling my own building?” He clicks his tongue. “Afraid not, spitfire. So, I wouldn’t go around suing me if I were you.”

The girl notices us approaching and embarrassment hits her cheeks when she realizes we heard everything she said. What I don’t understand is why she said she’ll be homeless. Wouldn’t I have received a similar notice if our building was getting emptied?

“This isn’t over, asshole.”

“I dare hope not.” He looks strangely smitten with her, despite the hate on her face.

With one last icy look, she pushes past us and disappears into the elevator.

“Somebody finally didn’t fall for your charm. I thought the day would never come,” taunts Dash with a chuckle, making Justin glare.

“It’s your fault, you fuck.”

“What did you do, Dash?” I demand, slapping his chest with my free hand.

He peers down, gaze softening. “Nothing, kitten.”

“Hmmm, I don’t believe you.” Turning to Justin, I ask, “You tell me.”

“After he bought your building, he asked the tenants living in the floors below to find a new place. Something about privacy. Now, that girl hates me for selling the place to him in the first place. Although, that detail shouldn’t have been privy to her.”

Dash scowls at Justin for outing him and at my upset expression. Now, his best friend is the one looking smug and with a whistle, he exits the building.

“Kitten.”

“You need to give her place back.”

“No.”

I lift my chin. “Yes.”

“It’s too late now.” I open my mouth to reply, but a yelp leaves my lips instead when I’m hung upside down over his broad shoulder. He spanks my ass. “We’ll talk about this later. Right now, I have other pressing needs like making you my wife.”

“You bossy jerk.”

Spank.

“Keep running that mouth and I’ll carry you into the court just like this.” I shut my mouth and close my eyes when he whispers pleasingly, “Good girl.”

Chapter Forty-one

DASH

After the two most tortuous and slowest-moving hours in history, my beautiful obsession has finally become my wife.Mine. The vivid possessiveness that flares inside my chest is both a welcoming and scary feeling.

Bianca Dash Stern.

The three words I never imagined to hear as the registrar declared it in front of our best friends. I ended up doing the single thing I vowed never to do. Marriage. The bane of my family’s existence. Yet the feeling is nothing short of spectacular and long awaited. My kitten doesn’t realize the floodgates she’s opened, letting me in and sealing her fate, signing papers that make us belong together.

Because to her, the vows are nothing but meaningless words. A necessary ritual.

While they are everything to me.

I meant each word down to my soul as I said them looking into her chocolaty brown eyes. A man who never believed in marriage, thought of it as nothing but a curse. Yet today, I’m desperate and tempted to believe they’re a blessing in disguise.

It’s becoming a lot harder to pretend the need to get her out of my system has twisted and molded into something deeper.Darker.

I wonder if I’ll ever be able to let her go when the time comes.
