For some bizarre reason, I feel the loss of Dash’s warmth and hands. I shake off the absurd feeling and let Niall dress me in his hoodie. He holds me possessively against his side and stares at Dash with hate.

Wait… How does he know his name? And why is he in his house?

“Do you two know each other?” I ask while looking between them questioningly.

“He’s my stepbrother,” sneers Niall. “My mom is married to his dad.”

My eyes widen in shock and everything clicks into place. Though, on the inside, I’m mad at Niall that he never told me about Dash. Shouldn’t this be something I should be aware of? However, judging by the animosity between them, I shouldn’t be surprised that he hasn’t.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I thought he was a stranger.”

Niall peers down at me and winces as he apologizes, “Sorry, babe.” Then he turns to Dash and says in a displeased voice, “I didn’t know he was coming home.”

“Does he live in your house?”

“This is my house and not his, sweetheart,” Dash, who was quiet until now, says in a hard voice.

Oh my god. Does this mean I’ll run into him often? Especially after the embarrassment of tonight? How the hell am I supposed to walk around him, knowing he’s seen me practically naked?

Suddenly, the heaviness of everything hits me all at once.

My special plans got ruined and I’m still a virgin.

“Ignore him,” Niall orders, glaring at his stepbrother, and tugs at my hand. “Let’s go to my room, babe.”

I fall into step beside him and I’m almost out the door when I look back, feeling the pull toward the enigmatic man. His green eyes darken with heat and intensity like he can see through me. I glare when he roams his eyes over me from head to toe and smirks.

I hate him already and know I won’t like the coming days.

And every day, he proves me right.

Chapter Ten

BIANCA

Present

“Wow! He said no?” Iris says in bewilderment.

“What a dick!” curses Rosa.

All of us are sitting on the floor in my bedroom while sipping on red wine—our second bottle—and we’re at different stages of drunkenness except Rosa. Our simple dinner date turned into a sleepover when I revealed I went ahead with their plan of a fake relationship and what an utter flop it was.

I had every intention of kicking them out but both of them are nosy little creatures. Instead, they went into my closet to borrow night clothes and had wine delivered. How the three of us ended up on the floor, I’ve no clue.

They listened intently as I relayed all about the disaster of yesterday, like how I ran into Dash at my office and as a client, no less.

Well… that’s still up for debate since we never got to discuss any actual work.

Hopefully, my word vomit didn’t scare him into running in the opposite direction.

I also told my friends how I accidently asked him to be my fake husband, only for him to reject me cruelly. Of course, I kept the part where he touched me and we stood inches apart while we talked all to myself.

Don’t wanna give them any wrong ideas. Rosa is already suspicious.

I’m confused about giving in to him so easily. I should’ve fought harder. It’s like he puts me in a trance with his deep, seductive voice. I blame it on my forced celibacy and that’s it.

“Seriously, Ro, it’s your fault,” I accuse. “You chose him.”
