“Baby, it’s hotter than hell in here,” Ben says, his forehead dropping down against mine.

“I was hoping they’d get drunk enough not to notice. Of course we’re out of Jack and almost out of tequila, and the last time I checked the vodka was getting a little thin… so there may be a hole in my plan,” I mumble.

“I think I got you covered there, too.”

“You do?” I ask not understanding. Almost before I finish asking the door opens again, Ben turns us so we both can see Danny—one of his deputies—rolling in a crate. I frown watching as he comes to a stop beside Gavin. Gavin reaches down and takes off the top and inside are bottles of vodka, whiskey and… tequila. I even see some scotch.

“Jesus… I’ll owe you everything in my bank account and then some,” I mutter.

“Fuck, you will,” Ben growls. His hand wraps around the side of my neck. “Junie, I’m in this with you for the long haul. We don’toweeach other shit. I’m your man. I have your back. Do you understand that?”

“I’m starting to…” I murmur, unable to say anything else.

“Thank fuck. Now get your guys to unload that liquor where you want it and your doofus brother and I will start getting this place cooled down.”

“Okay,” I respond still in shock. Ben turns to talk to Gavin, but I stop to say one other thing. “Ben?”

“Yeah, Baby?”

“Thank you,” I respond lamely, wanting to say so much more, but conscious of my brother being close by.

Ben smiles at me. The look he gives me makes me feel warm all over, and I figure my thank you was enough for now. I get Dawson busy getting the crate of liquor off of Danny’s dolly, then hug my brother.

“Thank you, too, Big Brother.”

“I’d take credit, but this was all Kingston. I came along though, because he doesn’t like to admit it, but he’d be lost without me,” Gavin jokes, and I roll my eyes.

“I still don’t understand how you did all this. Aren’t you on duty?”

“Nope. The mayor pulled some strings to give the others some overtime and Kingston, Danny, and I all got the night off.”

“That’s awful nice of her,” I laugh, reminding myself to thank Luna too.

“She’s kind of sweet on me, so I have some pull,” he says grinning. “But you quit worrying. This is all above board, Junie. Now I better go help put the air conditioners in before he fucks something up,” Gavin says with a wink. I watch him go, but I watch them working together, and I think about everything Ben has done realizing I was wrong.

I’ve already fallen for Ben.

Ben

“You’ve got to let me pay you back, Ben,” Junie says for the millionth time.

I keep my eyes closed, enjoying the fact that I’m in bed with her, tired, because her greedy pussy wore me out and left me well satisfied. My fingers are sifting through her hair, as we stare up at the ceiling, her head resting on my shoulder.

“Junie, stop.”

“Ben, that’s a lot of money,” she responds, turning over to her side and curling into me. “I can’t let you spend that money on me.”

“You aren’tlettingme. Iwantto spend it on you.”

“Ben, you can’t afford to spend money—”

“I can. We haven’t talked finances, but I have money saved up. I got this house for a song—”

“But, Ben—”

“When I say that, Junie,” I tell her, “I mean dirt cheap.”

“Ben—”
