“Call me once she’s dressed,” Abel says before leaving us.

When they force me back into the shower, I try to object that I need to be with Abel, but it doesn’t help. They don’t let me out until we’re all soaked through, and since I’m the only one who’s naked, I get to watch them strip out of their clothes.

While I laugh at their antics, there’s a small voice in the back of my head telling me to calm down, but I don’t listen because, frankly, I don’t want to. Laughing feels too good.

Chapter 16

Cia

Wakingupthenextday, I can barely move. Liam, Kai, and Gus are all lying around me, all our limbs tangled across all of us. They’re all breathing deeply, clearly sleeping. I blink a few times to get used to how dark it is in here. I notice some movement in the corner, and I open my mouth, ready to scream the house down until I notice it’s one of Kai’s trusted guards.

“Why are you in our bedroom?” I ask, confused.

I don’t remember my husband ever letting his guards in here while we were sleeping before.

“Good evening Miss Kronos.” His voice is deep and there’s a trace of an accent I don’t recognize. “Kairos demanded I stand guard while you slept. Now that you’re awake, I’m to wake him. Unless you want to?”

Cramps are still tearing through my body, a reminder of what has happened. “I… I need the bathroom,” I whisper, like it’s some big secret.

“Do you require assistance?”

I shake my head. “No, I’ll be fine.”

My legs are unsteady as they carry me to the bathroom. After closing the door behind me, I walk over to the sink and look at my too pale reflection. Dear gods of Olympus, I need to get my hair redone. I know that’s not a priority right now, but it irks me to look this disheveled.

After my shower, I get dressed in one of the dresses created by Paris. The black, floor-length silk dress is totally over the top for lounging in the house, yet too comfortable not to wear it. It’s held together by dragons on the shoulders, which means there are no zippers, buttons, or anything else to restrict me.

I walk back into the bedroom after gathering my hair in a loose braid. All three of my guys are awake, meeting me with their expectant looks.

“Good morning,” I say, trying to sound… well, better than I feel.

Gus snorts. “Morning? It’s almost nine o’clock in the evening.”

My eyes widen as I process his words. It would take the Greek god Hypnos himself to make me sleep for so long. I mentally try to count the hours.

“I’ve slept almost twenty hours,” I gasp. “That can’t be right.”

I have no explanation as to why I’m focusing so hard on the amount of hours I’ve slept. Obviously, I needed it.

Kai comes over to me and pulls me flush against his body. “It’s good to see you awake again, Nereid.” His voice is laden with remnants of sleep, making it all low and husky.

As much as I want to crawl back into bed and drown myself in my three men, I pull myself free and put some distance between us. Judging by the wry smile dancing across his lips, he knows what I’m doing.

“We need to talk to Abel,” I remind them.

My thoughts run so fast I can barely keep up. There are too many things going on, and no matter where I want to start, it has the potential to overshadow something we can’t afford to overlook. So while we walk to the library where Abel is waiting, I make a mental checklist.

Marian.

The Tribunal.

My dad—his death, arrangements and… just what the hell did he and my mom uncover that cost them their lives.

I’m sure there are more things I’m already overlooking—deliberately as well as not. Gods, how am I ever meant to keep track of all of this? How is this even my life?

As we reach the library, we’re greeted by a sight I never would have expected.

“Morgana?” I greet the woman standing next to Abel.
