"Yeah, but the club is not our thing. You know that, right? Unless you're looking for a one night stand, which is not our style either."

"I know, but I need a heavy distraction."

"The guy has a choke hold on you, huh? Welcome to my world."

"I don't like your world," I replied.

"You have no choice. I mean, I might not have the best taste in men, but I don't want to hang around the drunk pervs in a club. We can hit the bar if you want. At least you'll be able to meet some sane guys."

"You can see pervs anywhere. It's not like they write it on their foreheads, you know?"

"You're right, club it is! Next time we choose where I want."

"Whatever you say, ma'am. You are the driving force of this relationship," I replied.

CHAPTER8

GEORGE

The car pulled out of the airport that afternoon. After getting down from my private jet, we entered the car that had been booked prior.

The tech convention was happening in Germany and I was one of the chief speakers. Left to me, I avoid things like that, but for the business, it was a necessity. The organizer was also someone that I knew quite well.

I glanced at Kat. She was looking out the window. When we showed up at the airport, the smile that played on her face upon seeing my jet was beautiful. The last time I saw that kind of look was whenever I took Lily out to sight see when she was growing up.

The Black Thunder, my jet, was money well spent. I always prioritize my comfort over anything else. But I had never felt as happy as I did watching Kat admire it.

"Have you ever been to a tech convention before?" I asked her.

Small talk? Really? What kind of a person am I turning into?

"No," she shook her head. "I have never had a way with technology. It doesn't agree with me for some reason."

"Doesn't agree with you?"

"Oh, yes. Don't even get me started. Technology and I are opposing forces. But I have always admired people in that line of work. You guys are so smart. You are practically geniuses."

"It's not as complicated as you might think."

She shrugged.

There was silence for a while, and I thought that that was the end of the conversation but she spoke again. "When did you develop a knack for these things?"

"I am not sure I can remember. It's been as far as I know. But it started out as a safe space for me and then one thing led to another and now I'm giving a speech and training at the biggest tech convention in the world."

"That's quite impressive."

"So you are impressed by me?"

She looked away. "It's hard not to be. You have a lot of achievements under your belt."

"There's more than just my achievements under my belt. You should know that because you couldn't take your eyes off me."

She gasped, sitting up and turning her body to face me. "You did not just bring that up."

"There's the feisty part of you that you keep hidden."

"I don't hide anything. You are my boss."
