"Don't!" She raised her palm to my face before pushing me back slightly so she has enough room to wiggle out.

She turned and jogged away. I wanted to go after her, but I knew some people saw me follow her, and I was taking too long in returning. I didn’t want to raise any suspicion. I knew she would not like that.

I didn’t care what anyone thought, but Kat, she was not like me. And that was probably the reason why I was drawn to her.

CHAPTER14

GEORGE

"She said no?" Marcus asked, shoving a spoon full in his mouth. He knew that was a pet peeve of mine, so he waved his hand in an apology towards me, but urged me to answer his question.

I closed my eyes, rubbing my forehead. We were seated in our usual membership only bar.

I nodded my head in reply. "She said no and she didn't tell me why. She wouldn't talk to me. I tried calling her afterwards, and when she showed up to work that Monday, she didn't say anything." I omitted the fact that I got mad and used her pleasure against her and fondled her on the beach. I didn't think Marcus needed the fine details.

"Did you try asking her out again?"

"Of course I didn't. I mean, it was already nerve-wracking enough that I had to do it in the first place, but I am dying to know why she said no. She told me she wanted a relationship with me. She told me she wanted to go out with me. How come she's saying no now that I'm giving her what she wants?"

"That could be the reason why."

"You are not making any sense, Marcus."

He sat up in his chair. "Okay, hear me out. You said you asked her out in the middle of an argument. That could be why. She could have been too angry and she said no out of anger." He smiled.

"You look a little too happy at my distress." I frowned at him.

"I am. I am happy that a woman is finally making you go through all of this."

"The wrong woman, by the way." I pointed out.

"Oh, who cares I don't care that she is Lily's best friend."

"Of course you would say something like that. You don't have any moral scruples."

"Even if I don't, I am a strong believer in love and I think that this woman might be a step in the right direction. She is making you all bothered. You don't get bothered," he stated the obvious, wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"That's my point exactly."

"The only solution that I have for you is to ask her out again, see how things go. It's been four days since then. She should be calm by now. She's probably avoiding you because she is embarrassed or maybe she's shy. It is your job to make her understand that everything is fine and you would still be interested in dating her."

"I said that I asked her out. I didn't say that I wanted to date her."

That earned me a glare from him. "Look, I am your friend, right? And one thing I'm not going to take is you playing with women. She wants something with you. If you know you're not willing to give it, don't toy with her."

"I want her and I think about her more than I should. I go to bed with her on my mind and when I open my eyes in the morning she's the first thing that I think about. I can't concentrate on work because I'm thinking about her, thinking about sleeping with her and I don't just mean sex now," I admitted to him.

"That's the thing I'm talking about." He urged me on.

"More than that I want to see her smile, I want to hear her laugh. I want to hear her voice. I want her to tell me about how her day went. I want her to be in my arms. I want to kiss her. I want to make her feel better on a bad day. I want to take care of her. I want to buy her presents. I want to make her feel like a woman. It's so annoying," I groaned.

"All the right emotions are there, George. You are a stubborn bull. Anyone that knows you knows that, but you also know that I wouldn't lie to you and I know you pretty well. You may not be able to understand what is happening, but those are the emotions you get when you like someone beyond just the physical attraction. Ask her out again, okay? And if she says no, then you have to move on."

"I don't want to move on," I told him. The feeling got worse since I got a taste of her passion. I thought what I felt before for her was hunger, but it heightened to starvation in no time.

"You don't have a choice."

I leaned back in my chair knowing that he was speaking the truth. I downed my glass and I saw Marcus giving me the stink-eye.
