“If you do this,” I said to him. “Without complaint,” I smoothed his hair back. “I’ll fix your little situation for you after she leaves.”

His eyes flashed up to me and he grinned. “Deal.”

Leaving him with a kiss on the lips and a promise to return later, I went to find the doctor.

If I was going to do this, I was going to make damn sure that it wasn’t going to burst his brain in the process.

I found Felix in the staff lounge room by tracking his phone.

I pushed my way inside, then took the seat beside him.

“So, if I want to make Kobe orgasm, will that explode his brain or anything?” I asked curiously.

The doctor choked on the burrito he was consuming.

“I’m sorry, but what?” Felix asked.

I don’t know when we became friends. Somewhere in between the person I loved coming out of his drug-induced haze and him relearning how to talk? Whenever it was, Felix had been a great person to have around when I needed him the most—when Kobe needed him the most.

And apparently, my relationship with Felix wasn’t something that was only shared by me. Kobe liked the guy a lot, too.

For Kobe, that was saying something.

“Can I make him orgasm? Will it hurt him?” I asked.

Felix placed his burrito down, uncaring that the contents half spilled out, and turned to look at me.

He had his doctor face on as if he was trying to be professional about it.

“I think that sex might be out of the question, too much jostling. But other things…” he hesitated. “I don’t think it’d be too much. But I would tell him to pay attention to any warning signs like his head hurting more than he’s used to. If he experiences anything like that, stop.”

I nodded. That was all the answer I needed.

“Thanks.” I smiled. “I should have him in a better mood later, then.”

CHAPTER 22

OFF.

-The general direction I’d like you to fuck.

KOBE

“Can you hear me?”

I swallowed hard, unsure if I was hearing who I was hearing. Probably not.

“I’m not a hallucination.”

Had I said my earlier thoughts aloud?

“Yes,” Bain said. “Fuck, man, but you’ve been shot.”

I knew I’d been shot.

I could feel my head pounding, and I couldn’t see out of my left eye.

“Yeah, looks like the shot went into your left eye. Or out. Fuck, I don’t know. But man, just sayin’, but you won’t be seeing out of that again,” Bain admitted.
