“Well, we’re a brotherhood, so there’s that,” Raptor replies, smirking.

Once we have our plates filled and drinks in our hands, we head back into the common room where I see Raptor beckoning us to him. As we approach the table, I see three women sitting there, grinning at each other. “Banshee, Rory, this is Sloane, Sage, and Ember.”

After Rory is settled, I follow Raptor over to another table since it feels as though he’s got something on his mind. We eat in companionable silence for a few minutes before he asks, “Y’all sleep okay?”

Smirking, I nod since I’m still chewing my last bite. I may be a biker, but my mom drummed manners into me at an early age. No eating ‘like a heathen’ as she used to say when I was younger.

“Yeah, Brother,” I reply, drinking some of my coffee. “Did the parts for her RV come in? Me and the boys can get it taken care of pretty quickly.”

“Some are in, yeah. The ol’ ladies want to take Rory out to do their nails or some shit, got any objection to that?”

I think about her ex, but there’s no way he could possibly know where she’s at, so finally nod. “Shouldn’t be an issue.”

“We’ll send a prospect with them as well. We don’t have any problems around here as a rule, but why take chances? I’m sure someone out there would love to get their hands on one of our women,” Raptor says.

“And they’d die,” Ares promises, a gleam in his eyes.

“That they would,” Raptor agrees.

The women left an hour ago under the watchful eyes of a prospect. A sense of unease slithers through me, but I shake it off so I can focus on getting everything possible taken care of on her RV. I want to get us back to Roanoke, even though now I’ll have to see about building a house for us since I gave Ryleigh and Brick our family home. I can’t wait to head out on the club’s boat so we can fish, or sit up in our deer stand to see what she’s got. Just the thought of her toting a rifle, her delectable body encased in camo, has me adjusting my cock.

“What the fuck is this?” Kracken yells, stepping back from the RV. I watch in avid fascination as hundreds of small baggies fall down around his feet. Moving closer, I crouch and pick one of them up and shock courses through me.

“Drugs? She doesn’t seem the type,” Scythe muses, now crouched next to me holding his own bag.

“Bet they are her ex’s,” I mutter. “Because she’s about as wholesome as they come, Brother.”

“Gather it all up so we can destroy it. We don’t run drugs and I know y’all don’t either,” Raptor decrees. Even though he’s not my club president, he’s still one for this chapter so without hesitation, I follow his orders.

“Fuck, that’s got some major street value,” Ares says as we look down at the small pile of baggies now covering the workbench. “If it belongs to her ex, maybe that could explain why he’s still trying to find her?”

“She said he didn’t know about the RV,” I reply, questions swirling in my head.

“How much does she really know about him?” Raptor asks.

I shrug. Hell, I don’t even know his full name, and since I don’t want her upset, I hadn’t planned to ask.

“Let’s get Facet to see if he can access her shit, might be able to find something out,” Gator, the chapter’s VP, states.

Maybe an hour or so later, while we’re in the common room around the bar, drinking beer and shooting the shit since we’ve done all we can today, Ares’ phone rings. When he pulls it out, a grin crosses his face and I realize it’s probably his ol’ lady, Ember. My hackles raise, however, when his voice raises and I hear, “Slow down, babe, and repeat what you just said. Where’s the prospect? Wait, what? Okay, we’re on our way.”

I’m already standing up when he looks at the rest of us and says, “Rory was taken.”

Rory

I’m havingsuch a good time with the women from the club. We got our nails all prettied up, something I haven’t done in a very long time, and are now at a local mall. I’ve been teased unmercifully about Banshee and me, which means I’ve been red most of the morning. Now, after hitting up a few stores, we’re at the food court for some lunch.

“So, what’s between you two?” Ember asks as we search for a table large enough for the four of us. The prospect won’t sit with us; according to the girls, he’ll be at a nearby table so he can watch everyone around us for potential threats.

“I figured y’all would be able to tell me,” I retort. “After all, everything else has been dissected so far today.”

“You have to admit, based on how you two were last night compared to this morning, somethinghappened. Y’all were so different, it was beyond obvious.”

I lost my heart,I think.Hook, line, and sinker.
