“You know what I mean,” he said, and we laughed.

“I’m sure,” he said. “Being don of the Marchesi family means nothing to me now that I’m going to be your husband.” He grinned. “I’m going to be a fucking husband. I’m going to be a married man. I’ve never been so happy in my life.”
“Really?” I asked. “That makes you happy?”
“More than you’ll ever know.” He laughed then. “Shit, I don’t know who I’ve become. I’m the last person that ever would’ve thought I wanted to get married.”
