“I mean, if you’re making out with your boss, what’s the difference in dating him?” Molly said, and I just shook my head.

“Yeah,” Polly said, “if he’s good enough to pleasure you, then…”

“Oh my gosh, guys, can you listen to yourselves?”

“What?” Polly said innocently. “I’m just being honest, and I know how much you love honesty.”

“Yeah, you love honesty,” Chelsea said, and I just glared at them.

“You know what, then? Let’s go to this haunted house.” I turned to look at the other three. “You guys can do something else. We’re going to go to the haunted house right now by ourselves.”

“Ooh, don’t get too scared, Harriet,” Molly said, and I gave her my death glare. “You guys want to get some candy floss and some hot dogs?”

“Yeah, let’s do it,” Chelsea said. I looked up at Finn; he was laughing openly now.

“It’s not funny. They’re so embarrassing.”

“Isn’t that what sisters are meant to do?” he said dryly.

“What,” I said, “embarrass me?”

“Yeah, I think it’s kind of cute. It’s obvious you guys have a really loving relationship, and hey, if they want to tease you, they want to tease you.”

“I mean, I guess. I don’t really want them to tease me. I want them to just be cool and pretend like this isn’t a really weird situation.”

“But it is a weird situation.”

“See, even you admit that it’s a weird situation.”

“I don’t think it’s that weird, but obviously you do.”

“So, you think it’s normal that we are doing this crazy thing? Anyway,” I said, “let’s not talk about this again.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he said. “Let’s go to the haunted house instead.”

“Why do you want to go into a haunted house so badly?”

“I just want to see how scared you get,” he said, winking at me.

“Uh-huh.” We walked through the throngs of people, holding hands. It felt nice but also kind of weird. I wasn’t sure exactly how I felt about our situation. On the one hand, it was nice walking through the fair, holding hands with a handsome man who also obviously wanted me. But it was also weird because he was my boss and…

“Hey, what did you say to Benedict, by the way?” I asked him.

“What are you talking about?” He blinked at me in confusion.

“About him coming on to me last night?”

“Oh,” he said, shaking his head. “We spoke.”

“Yeah, and? Is he going to be there when we get back?”

“What do you mean?”

“You let him stay working there or you fired him? Or…”

“Why would I fire him?”

“Because he made a move on me and was asking me to give him a massage and a hand job or a blow job or whatever. He’s a dirty old man.” Finn’s lips twitched, and I stopped dead. “This is not funny, Finn.”
