“It was fun, but let’s just say it’s a little crazier than I normally am.”
“Oh?” he said. “You don’t like to get crazy?”
“No, I don’t.”
“So giving a lap dance to your new boss while you feed him breakfast is something that you normally do?”
“I wasn’t giving you a lap dance, Finn. I sat in your lap so I could feed you.”
“And you just—”
“We’re not going to keep going over this back and forth. Trust me, if I was giving you a lap dance, you’d know.”
“Ooh, is that a promise?”
“No, I’m just saying.”
“What are you saying? Because I’d like to buy whatever it is you’re selling.”
“Oh my God, Finn, we literally just banged, and now you are flirting with me to bang again?”
“I wouldn’t say bang. What happened to make love?”
I stared at him.
“I don’t think being pummeled against the side of a wall in a haunted house is making love.”
“At least it wasn’t really haunted,” he said.
His phone rang, and I watched as he pulled it out of his back pocket. He frowned.
“I have to take this. One moment.”
“Okay,” I said, nodding, as I reached for my phone.
“Hi. Yeah, this is Finn.”
I looked and saw that I had a bunch of missed calls and messages from both my sisters and Molly. I quickly called Chelsea as I knew she would be the one likely to answer hers.
“Hey, where are you?”
“Just got out of the haunted house. Where are you guys?”
“We just got hot dogs because Molly was hungry, and I think we’re going to go on like that teacup ride. You were in the haunted house for over forty-five minutes?” She sounded surprised. “I’ve never heard of anyone being in the haunted house that long. Was it really scary or something?”
“Or something,” I whispered into the phone.
“I can’t hear you. What are you saying?”
“I said or something,” I shouted a bit louder. Finn was still on the phone, but I could see him looking at me, with a raised eyebrow. I shook my head quickly.
“What’s going on? You sound funny, Harriet.”
“I’m fine. Where are you guys?”
“Well, like I just said, we’re going to go on that teacup ride. You want to come with?”
“I’m fine. Where are you guys going after that?”
