As soon as my phone rang, I answered it immediately. “Polly?” I whispered hopefully.

“Yeah, I’m at the front.”

“What do you mean at the front?”

“I parked on the main road. I didn’t want to drive up the driveway and alert your boss to the fact that someone was arriving with a delivery.”

“Good thinking. I didn’t even think about that.”

“I figured. So I’m walking down the driveway now. Come outside and meet me?”

“Will do. And were you able to get it?”

“Kind of,” she said.

“What do you mean ‘kind of’?” I held my breath nervously.

“Well, anyway, you’ll see. I did the best I could.”

“Okay. That doesn’t sound promising, Polly.”

“We live in Port Sunshine. I could only do what I could do. You didn’t give me much time.”

“I know, I know. Look, I’m coming,” I whispered into the phone. “I’ll be outside in a couple of minutes.”

“Okay,” she said. “I’m standing next to the tall palm tree that’s next to a statue of an archer.”

“Say what?” I said. “I haven’t explored the grounds yet. I just got here yesterday, remember?”

“Just come to the front of the house and I’ll wave you over.”

“Okay,” I said and hung up quickly. I could see that the water was boiling, and the eggs were clinking inside the pot. I reached down and grabbed some English muffins to put them in the toaster and then hurried out of the kitchen toward the front door. I had no idea where Finn was, and at this moment, I couldn’t worry about it. Hopefully, he didn’t see me. If he saw me, I’d tell him I needed some fresh air or something.

I made my way to the front door, cursing at every small movement my feet made against the ground. I opened the front door, hurried out, and looked left and right. It was then that I saw someone waving at me about a hundred feet in front. I ran to where my sister stood.

“Come on, Polly,” I said. “Come closer.”

“I was scared he’d have cameras or something and see us.”

“Yeah, well, you don’t have to worry about that. Why would he be looking at his cameras right now?” I said. “So where’s the eggs Benedict?”

“So about that,” she said, wrinkling her nose, looking slightly nervous.

“Oh my gosh, Polly. Please tell me that you brought eggs Benedict.”

“Kind of,” she said, shrugging.

“What do you mean ‘kind of’?” That was when I noticed the brown bag in her hand with the redM. “McDonald’s!” I almost screamed. “What are you doing to me, Polly?”

“McDonald’s was the only place open,” she said, shrugging. “I’m sorry.”

“Oh my God. So what did you get me?”
