“I went into the kitchen to see how much of a mess you’d made while you whipped up your family creation, and yet again, I see that you have deceived me.” He shook his head. “That’s really not on, Miss Campbell.”

“What are you talking about? That bag could have come from anywhere,” I said while trying to act ignorant to the bag in his hand.

“Really? That’s the story that you’re going with? That this McDonald’s bag, an empty Egg McMuffin wrapper, and a little white bag that I assume a hash brown came in, just happened to be in my kitchen?”

“I don’t know what Benedict had for breakfast this morning.”

“Benedict is still fast asleep, Harriet. Try again, or are you going to try to spin your Rwandan coffee bean story on me again?”

“Look,” I said. “I was feeling a bit out of it, so I had my sister go to McDonald’s to get something. Well, actually, I asked her to go to Denny’s and get you some eggs Benedict, but it wasn’t open because you wake up far too early. I’m just really discombobulated right now because it’s been a really long weekend.”

He held his hand up. “No, no, no, no, no, Harriet. That’s not how this story is going to go.”

“What do you mean?” I said, my mouth falling open as he stepped into my bedroom and closed the door. “I think you need to learn a little lesson.”

“A little lesson about what?”

“About lying to your boss.”

“I’m not lying to you. I just—”

“You just what?” he asked, smirking. “I think you did this on purpose.”

“Huh?”

“I think when I told you that I was going to spank you in the coffee shop, that turned you on. So when you realized that you had gotten a job working for me, you were going to do anything in your position to get yourself across my lap to get a little morning spanking.”

I burst out laughing then. “Are you absolutely crazy, Finn?”

“You can’t tell me you haven’t thought about it.” He raised a brow in question.

“Um, I thought about it because I was so shocked that you would even suggest such a thing to me in my place of employment and, well… What are you doing?” I said as he took another step closer to me.

“I’m just giving you a morning kiss,” he said.

His eyes looked down into mine, and I could feel my heart racing. I felt like I was in a movie, a movie I’d never seen before, but a movie I wouldn’t mind being a part of because I was crazy, which was thanks to my parents, of course. Any normal human being would slap him across the face, leave the house, and go back home. But I wasn’t any normal human being.

“So,” he said softly.

“What?” I gasped, looking up at him.

“Can I kiss you?”

“You’re asking my permission?”

His eyes twinkled. “Well, you have already accused me of sexual harassment once this morning.”

Before I knew what was happening, I’d reached up, put my hands behind his neck, and pulled his head down to me. His lips crushed into mine, and they were firm and luscious. I could feel his hands moving to my waist as he brought my body into his, and I melted against him as my tongue slipped into his mouth. Now, this was what early mornings were made of.

I was not a morning person, but if I were to get kissed and held like this, I’d wake up at three o’clock in the morning if I had to. And while Finn Joseph was the most horrible, disgustingly arrogant man I’d ever met, he was also the sexiest. So I was just going to go along with it. You only live once, right?

But then I felt his hands creeping up the side of my body and squeezing my breasts. I moaned slightly against his lips as he slipped his other hand underneath my top and started unhooking my bra. This was going a lot faster than I had anticipated.

“Um, what are you doing?” I said, pushing back slightly and looking up at him.

“What do you think I was doing?”

“I think that…” I looked down and blushed. “Look, I don’t mind a morning make-out session. That’s cool, but I just met you. You haven’t even taken me on a date, so I’m not about to sleep with you.”
