“Well, one group chose to solve the problem by flipping a coin to get to see who stayed and my company reimbursed the losing party,” Melody said.

“That sounds like an awful idea,” Savannah spat.

“The only other thing we can do is work something out between the two renters to possibly share the house for the summer. Maybe your party can take half the summer and the other party can take the other half. Or you can find a way to both stay there together and we’ll reimburse you each half of your money back,” Melody said.

That sounded worse to Brooks than flipping a damn coin. “There are only three bedrooms in this house and two bathrooms. How are we supposed to share? We don’t even know each other,” Brooks said.

“I’m sorry that I can’t give you better options,” Melody said. “Can you agree to give me until the morning to possibly come up with another solution?” she asked.

“What about another rental? I’m sure that your firm has to have another house that we can rent,” Savannah said.

“No, I’m afraid not. We are fully booked for the summer, and I have a feeling that’s why my assistant double-booked a few places. We have very low inventory this year due to last year’s storms that ravaged the island. I’m sorry,” Melody said.

“What are we supposed to do for the night?” Brooks asked.

“Um, flip a coin to see who gets the bed and who gets the sofa. I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you more tonight. I promise to get on this problem first thing in the morning and we’ll find some way to compensate you all.” Melody ended the call, leaving them all standing in the dark bedroom looking at each other as if none of them knew what to do next.

“I guess I’ll grab a coin,” Savannah said. She was pissed, but God, she was beautiful.

“You guys might as well introduce yourselves. It looks like it’s going to be a long night,” Brooks said, watching the pretty blond stomp out of his bedroom. Yeah, he really didn’t have any extra time to try to get her into his bed, but he was going to try to find some. He had a feeling the feisty blond would be worth giving up some bro time with the guys.

Savannah

“Found one,” she shouted, holding up a quarter she had found in her purse.

“Wait—we’re really going to flip a coin? I thought that you were kidding about doing that,” Brooks said. She had only known him for mere minutes, but the guy really grated on her last nerve, although that might have everything to do with him sleeping in her bed.

“How else will we decide who gets the beds and who sleeps on the couch?” she asked.

“Well, we were here first, so I say that we get the beds, and you three sleep on the sofas,” Brooks offered. Yeah, he wasn’t going to budge from the whole, “We got here first” routine. She was sure that she was fighting a losing battle, but she had to give it a try. She was dead tired and there was no way that she wanted to sleep on a couch tonight.

“I’m up for sharing,” one of the other guys offered. He was cozied up to Ginger and Savannah turned to stare him down.

“And you are?” she asked.

“Oh, I’m Jude,” he said, crossing the room to hold out his hand to her.

“Well, Jude,” she said, looking him over and refusing to shake his hand. “How do you know that any of us would want to share your bed with you? I mean, isn’t that a bit presumptuous of you?” she accused.

Ginger cleared her throat from the doorway and Savanah wanted to groan. She knew her friend well enough to know that she was about to volunteer as tribute to share Jude’s bed and why wouldn’t she? All three of the guys were hot, even the one who was currently sitting in her bed.

“I wouldn’t mind sharing a bed with Jude. I mean, we’re only sleeping, right?” she asked.

“We can do whatever you’d like, honey,” Jude offered.

“Smooth, real smooth,” Savanah mumbled under her breath.

“Just sleeping,” Ginger insisted, holding up her hands at him. “I just got out of a horrible relationship and all I want is a comfortable bed.”

“Fine, we can just sleep,” he agreed. “Sorry to hear about your relationship. Come on, I’ll show you to our room.” They disappeared down the hallway, leaving Savannah standing in the middle of what was supposed to be her bedroom, staring down Norah.

“Tell me that you’re not going to sleep with him,” she said to her friend.

“Um, no,” Norah said, looking the other guy over. “What’s your name again?” Norah asked.

“I’m Colter,” he said.

“Right,” Norah breathed, “sorry, I’m just tired from our trip. No offense, Colter, but I’d like to sleep on the sofa if that works for you. Can you just point me to the closest one?”
