I swallowed, suddenly not feeling so blissful. “Well, yeah. I guess.”

Tully cupped my face, making me look at him. “If you feel what I feel, then you feel love.” I gave the smallest of nods and he smiled. “Your dad might not be able to show you he loves you or tell you, but I’m sure he loves you.”

I shrugged. “We’ve never spoken about... any emotions. At all. Ever.”

He kissed me. “I’m gonna show you so much love you won’t know what to do with it.”

“I already don’t know what to do with it, to be honest.”

He laughed. “Well, let’s start with a shower. I need to get cleaned up because I’m sticky and lubed all over.”

“Oh.” I let him escape my arms, only really feeling the stickiness when he had to peel himself off me.

After almost blinding us both when I flipped the light switch on in the bathroom, I started the shower and pulled him under the spray, lathering up the sponge with shower gel and giving him a thorough washing. He had to wash his hair—not entirely sure how we got lube up there, but anyway—I made a point of taking care of him, looking after him with tender touches and soft kisses.

I might not be able to tell him with words, but I could do this for him.

He hummed and leaned into every touch, looking at me with puppy dog eyes. “You do love me,” he murmured. I smiled and ducked my head, nowhere to hide under the bright lights and being completely naked. He laughed and booped me on the nose with a soapy finger. “I know you do.”

I met his gaze and gave him an embarrassed, reluctant nod.

He did a little happy dance. “I will make you say it one day. You’ll be able to say it as easy as talking about the weather. Which, for you, is easy-peasy.” I rolled my eyes and he gave me a playful shove. “Now get out,” he said. “I need to soak under this water jet a little longer. Unless you’d like to give me round two in here.”

Chuckling, ridiculously happy, I stepped out of the shower and began to dry off. “Oh,” Tully said, now a foggy, steamed-up glass panel between us. “And I think we need to talk about condoms. Or more to the point, about not using them. Because tonight, when you were... not wearing one, I was imagining what that might be like. Well, I think I’d like to try that. Having you come inside me would be so fucking hot—”

I opened the shower screen door. Steam billowed out and he was standing there with his head back, under the water. With a sly smirk, he put his head forward and looked at me. “Like the sound of that?”

“I, uh... I don’t... do you think...?”

“Oh, I think, yes.” He put his head back under the water, still smiling. “I think very much. After the cyclone, we can have all the necessary tests. Together, like a couple.” He shot his head forward again, a new spark in his eyes. “Like boyfriends, because that’s what we are now, remember? I mean, we live together, so technically we’re more than that, but officially, if I was to introduce you to someone, I could say, ‘Hey, this is my boyfriend, the very smart Doctor Jeremiah well-hung Overton,’ and—” He shut the water off. “And you could be all, ‘Yes, dear boyfriend, that’s completely correct.’”

Oh dear god.

I handed him a towel. “I’m sure they’d appreciate the insight.” I hung my towel up and left him to dry off.

“I gotta dry my hair,” he called out. “No fallin’ asleep without me.”

I laughed, and finding my phone, I plugged it in to charge before I slid under the covers. The room was dark, the only light coming from the open bathroom door. Tully singing over the sound of the hairdryer was the only sound.

What a night.

What an admission.

He loved me.

And what he’d just said.

Could I have sex without a condom? Was that something I’d be comfortable doing?

I was in a relationship, I countered with myself. And I trusted Tully implicitly. So maybe it was something we could consider...

I certainly wouldn’t mind trying. Seeing how it would feel to be inside him bare. To come, to give him my seed, to make him mine in that way...

Sweet Jesus.

I needed tonotthink about that. My balls already liked the idea.

I snatched up my phone, needing the distraction, and of course my home screen had news updates. And there, in a small thumbnail image, was Tully in his work shirt, pointing his finger at a reporter, mid-rant.
