“I am,” he says confidently. “I have already mastered the violin and piano. Next, I would like to learn how to play the guitar.”

“That makes sense, given your ability to connect with inanimate objects,” Kyan notes.

“Well, I hope you do not plan on becoming famous like The Tumbling Stones, or whatever they are called,” Axil adds in a stern voice. He sounds more like Luka with each passing day, though I would never tell him that. “You cannot risk it.”

“I have no intention of pursuing a life of fame,” Zev says, shaking his head in a way that shows how serious he is about his vow. “I do not even desire attention when I play.”

He has never enjoyed the feeling of everyone’s eyes on him. Zev is a sensitive, shy male with a well of emotions that runs deeper than the sea. Our handlers were cruel to him, and I have often wondered if that is why he’s so withdrawn. I am starting to rethink that assumption, however.

“There will be no risk to us,” Zev adds. “I merely wish to nurture this desire and create something that I find interesting and enjoyable.”

“Then we support you,” I tell him.

“Truly?” he asks, looking around the room.

My brothers nod as does Vanessa.

Quiet settles over the room, and I say, “I believe it’s my turn to share, and I think you should settle into your seats. I have many books, TV shows, and movies I wish to discuss.”

A collective groan fills the air as I launch into my very long list.

The next day, I find myself inundated with work that keeps me locked in my office. I speak with several managers of local restaurants in an effort to get them to partner with us for upcoming fundraisers. Despite the mocking tone of Kyan’s suggestion last night to fund the library myself, it did inspire me to find other ways of improving my place of work.

I have held fundraisers for the library in the past, but none have accumulated more than a few hundred dollars. But a partnership with a restaurant is sure to yield better results. Especially when we offer food and drinks during trivia nights that celebrate movies and TV shows that are based on books.

We shall start withBridgertonas it is extremely popular at the moment, given how quickly each book in the series flies off our shelves, and then include older favorites such asThe Hunger Games, Outlander, and more. Entrants have the chance to win a gift card to the restaurant we partner with.

“Brilliant,” I mutter quietly to myself as I create a spreadsheet to track all the details.

“Mylo?” Charlie says over the intercom. “Someone’s here to see you. Her name is Sam.”

Our mate,my draxilio purrs.

Not our mate,I remind him.

Pressing the button on the intercom, I reply, “Send her up.”

She walks in with a stack of books so high, I can’t see her face. I jump up from my chair and race around the desk to help her. Taking the books from her hands, I place them on the side table.

“Whew, thank you,” she says, slightly out of breath. Her oval face glows from exertion, and it reminds me of the way she looks after we have sex, except, sadly, she is fully clothed. She’s wearing a loose tank top the color of plums that is knotted at the waist, with a black lace bra peeking out from her low neckline.

I feel myself getting hard as I stare at that little scrap of fabric. Her black leggings cling to her soft curves, and I ache to peel them off her thick thighs and bite into the part of her ass that meets her thigh. The light squeak of her gold sneakers across the floor would normally bother my sensitive ears, but I am far too mesmerized by the black lace that disappears beneath her shirt. “Those are the overdue books my mom had. Sorry again about that.”

“You did not have to carry those up here,” I tell her, gesturing for her to take the seat across from me. “You could’ve left them in the return box outside.”

Her expression is unreadable, but once she is seated, I detect a hint of shyness in the way her hands are folded in her lap and her inability to meet my gaze. “I know, but I wanted to make sure you knew all were accounted for.”

“I thank you for that.”

She scratches her head, looking distinctly uncomfortable. “That woman at the front desk. I think I saw her here yesterday.”

“Ah, yes, that is Charlie. Today is her first day as assistant librarian.”

Samantha nods as she nibbles on her bottom lip. “She’s very pretty.”

“I guess,” I reply. I suppose Charlie does have nice curves and a pleasing smile, though her beauty is not something I paid much attention to as she is not a female I am trying to woo, but rather a qualified candidate for a position I have been trying to fill for months.
