A knock on the door got everyone’s attention.

“Maybe our guests of honor have finally arrived.” I headed to the door, knowing damn well Marissa wouldn’t knock. She lived here. And Hannah had been spending enough time here that she wouldn’t knock, either, especially when she knew a party was going on.

I usually adored seeing handsome men in uniform, but considering the circumstances, my heart plummeted into my stomach when I found the Colorado Highway Patrol on my doorstep.

“What can I help you with, gentlemen?”

“Good evening, Ms. le Bonnet. Always a pleasure to see you.” One of the officers swiped his tablet. “We’ve received reports of an abandoned vehicle way out on Lionsgate Highway where crews were clearing an avalanche. We ran the plates on it, and it’s a rental, currently leased toThe Mating Game.”

He handed me the tablet, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. “This is Hannah’s SUV.”

Everyone in the room gasped. The shock made it hard to process what I was seeing. The SUV had damage from the snow, but that wasn’t what concerned me most. The driver’s side door had been ripped clear off the hinges. Maybe she’d done it when she’d escaped the vehicle, or maybe…

I could hardly consider the alternative.

“You said the vehicle was abandoned?”

The officer nodded. “The crews searched for the driver, but because the snow had been moved, any tracks would have been destroyed.”

Tina came up behind me and put her hand on my arm. “But a body hasn’t been recovered?”

“No, ma’am.”

I handed the officer his tablet and thanked him. He promised to be in contact if his team had any more information. Tina stepped forward and gave him her information. My wolf was rising fast. We needed to find Hannah now. All I could think of was her out in the cold, lost and disoriented….and the mountains were full of wild animals…

“We need to get Hugo here immediately.”

“I’ve already texted him,” Stephanie said. “He’s on his way.”

“How will he get here if Bjorn has his truck?” Tina asked.

“He’s got one of the show vans.” I willed myself to stay human until he arrived.

It only took him moments to arrive. I was so thankful to have such a savvy team working with me.

“What do we know?” he asked.

I told him everything the officer had told us.

“Ladies, I want you to stay here. Does anyone have Hannah’s number?”

“I do,” Wendy said.

“Good. Text her. Let her know we’re on our way. Let us know if she answers. If everyone is willing to stay here until we return, that would be great. Let the guys know what’s going on—especially the Woodland Park pride since they would be the closest if we need backup. Austin, too, because we might need him to do some recon for us. Hopefully, we won’t need them at all. Bibi and I will head out to Lionsgate. We’ll be in touch as soon as we know what’s going on.”

That was hot.

He looked around. “Where the hell are Marissa and Bjorn? He said he was coming here.”

“They went out.”

Hugo narrowed his eyes in confusion, but only for a moment. Hannah was definitely in trouble, and that was our focus at the moment. He took my shaking hands in his. “Are you ready? I need you, Bibi.”

“I need you, too.” I steeled myself. “And nothing will happen to any of my contestants on my watch.”
