Everly Events had opted for their shoot to take place in the forest surrounding the Rio Celeste, while Keller Media wanted a montage of us immersed in the beautiful turquoise waters of the waterfall to contrast.

We dress as quickly as possible inside a makeshift tent they’ve set up for us, though it isn’t as fast as wecouldbecause I’m too distracted watching Reyna to focus on my own clothes.

They’ve provided simple matching white linen pants and a button-up shirt for me, alongside a casual knee-length white linen dress for Rey.

“You look fucking delectable, Sunshine.”

She tucks her hair behind her ears, a hint of a smile tugging on her kiss-swollen lips as she fixes the thin straps on her shoulders, and I’m helpless to stop from tugging her to me so that I can kiss her again.

She grips my shirt, pulling me even closer to run the tip of her tongue across the seam of my lips, seeking an entry I’m too willing to give.

Her deep groan of pleasure fills the tent when I slide my palms around to cup her ass, holding her flush against my body. She breaks our mouths apart, panting as heavily as I am.

“Shit, Rey. Just when I think I’ve satiated my need for you, I look at you, and that’s it. I’m lost all over again.”

She smiles up into my eyes until Ford’s voice beyond the pseudo-tent calls out, “Christ almighty, Burton owes me big time for making me babysit you two.”

Everly’s shoot is up first. It’s a casual one peppered with a handful of innocuous, pre-approved questions.

Tara, the rep from Everly, questions from her place beside three photographers – because, clearly, one wouldn’t cut it.

“How did you two meet?”

Rey takes this one, having previously determined that we needed to stay as close to the truth as possible. “It wasliterallya ‘guy walked into a bar’ type of situation.”

She looks up at me from beneath her lashes, a secret smile dancing on her lips, and I can’t help but intertwine our fingers to pull her close to my side.

“And you had absolutelynoidea that the guy you met was the notorious Alex DeMarco?”

Rey chews her bottom lip for a beat before shaking her head. “I mean, I knew he was special, but I had no idea he was famous, or whatever.”

Tara moves on, thankfully. She glances sideways at the clicking photographers before openly shrugging. “I know it’s not on the pre-approved questions, but I’m absolutelydyingto know—”

I cut her off with a sharp denial, terrified she would mention the circumstances of the huge ass wedding being canceled, forcing Rey to tell her about Mari’s passing. “No. Unless it’s preapproved—”

“It’s okay, Alex.” Rey cuts me off, twisting her head back to Tara. “Please, by all means. We are an open book.”

Tara shoots her a thankful look before continuing – and absolutelynotin the direction I’d anticipated. “How did he pop the question, Mrs. DeMarco?”

Rey’s face lights up, and I don’t even bother to fight the belly laugh that erupts from my mouth, unsettling several birds from nearby trees.

“Oh, now that’s a story.”

By the time Tara and Rey have quit giggling over my Maverick-style proposal, Tara is swearing blindly that she won’t tell another soul when I spot a sloth high up in a nearby tree.

“Look, guys!”

Rey’s reaction is something I will remember for the rest of my life. Herfacelit up with all the splendor of a thousand suns when she saw the sloth, who was actually awake and moving, much to the delight of the entire crew.

All I could do was stand back alongside the snapping photographers with a cheesy-as-fuck grin on my stupid face, watching my wife stare in complete rapture.

We bid goodbye to Tara and the crew from Everly, with both ladies promising to stay in touch. When we got back to the falls, Keller Media had everything set up, and I’d quickly donned the simple black trunks they provided before wading into the pristine waters.

“Come on in, Sunshine. The water is blissful.”

I look back to find Rey standing by the water's edge, her toes barely dipped. She’s wrapped in an oversized white towel, her tan complexion absolutely glowing in contrast.

I pop a mischievous brow as I flick water in her direction, and she giggles lightly before I move off close to the falls with a swift, strong backstroke, leaving her to debate entering.
