“No need to rush on my account,” Seth said, smiling.

The man was partly right. There was a need for her to rush away although it wouldn’t be on his account. It would be because of Dylan. He was drinking a cup of coffee and eying her over the rim of it. The look he was giving her had her heart beating faster and harder than it should.

Seth’s cell phone went off and she broke eye contact with Dylan when Seth said, “Sorry, I need to take this call.”

She nodded. “It was nice meeting you.”

Seth nodded and then walked off toward the patio, answering his phone in the process. She turned her attention back to Dylan. “I’ll be going now.”

“I’ll walk you to your villa.”

“There is no need for that, Dylan. It’s daytime.”

“There is a need. We’re going to need your help.”

She lifted a brow. “We who?”

“Me, Seth and the FBI.”

Why was her heart pounding even harder? Not from what he’d said but from the way he was still looking at her. She fully understood why a lot of women thought Dylan was not only a musical genius but also a heartthrob. Standing before her in his bare feet, wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, he gave all new meaning to the wordsexy.

She tilted her head to the side and looked at him, trying to focus on what he’d said. “You, Seth and the FBI? In what capacity?”

“From what you overheard, Elise’s plan is to enter this villa when I’m not here. It will make her job much easier if I’m away.”

“That’s part of the plan, remember? Cindy is to keep you occupied.”

“That won’t be happening. I don’t intend to let that woman near me.”

“So what do you need me to do?”

“I need to make it seem that we’ve met, and I’ll be spending time with you and away from my villa.”

She considered his words. Why did the thought of spending more time with Dylan have nerves dancing in her stomach? After all, his suggestion would fit quite nicely with her payback plan, which was to seduce him and then before things went where he thought they would, she would reject him. But still...

“Will that be necessary?”

“We think it will. The last time I was easy on Elise. But not this time. Seth has contacts with the Feds and they will be placing hidden cameras in here today. We figure she plans to make her move later today or tomorrow.”

It took a moment for Charm to fully process his words. She had a suspicion they were talking about more than spending the day together. He probably wanted to make it seem as if the two of them were involved in something hot and heavy where he would have reason to spend more time at her villa than his own. Again, such a move would fit nicely with her plan, so why was she nervous about agreeing to such a thing?

“Will that plan work for you, Charm?”

She was about to tell him that yes, it would work when she recalled something he’d said. “What do you mean you were easy on Elise the last time? Has she tried doing something before?”

“Yes.” He then told her about what she’d done to his car and the two-year court injunction for her to stay away from him that had ended a few months ago.

Charm shook her head. “Sounds like your ex-girlfriend has issues.”

“Elise was never my girlfriend. To this day I’ve only had one girlfriend and that was you.”

“Yeah, right,” Charm said dismissively.

He frowned. “What do you mean, ‘yeah, right’? It’s as if you don’t believe you’ve been my only girlfriend.”

Charm really didn’t want to rehash the past with him or reopen old wounds. “Nothing.” Beginning to feel agitated, she said, “I want to go to my villa, to shower and grab breakfast.”

“Fine, I’ll go with you.”
