Dylan chuckled. “Hazel is sixty and you’re right, she doesn’t look it. She and Ren have teenage grandchildren. Three of their grandsons help him around here when they aren’t in school.”

“Where do they live?” she asked.

“A few miles down the road on their own spread. Their three sons and one daughter and their families live within throwing distance. The Burgesses are a great family and very close.”

“I can’t wait to meet Ren.”

Dylan checked his watch. “He should be back in a little while. In the meantime, I’ll bring in the luggage. Make yourself at home.”

They walked back down the stairs together to the main floor and she decided to check out the wraparound back porch while Dylan went out for the luggage. She saw the porch swing and immediately moved to sit in it. The beauty of the land surrounding the ranch helped her understand why Dylan wanted to come here. She closed her eyes for a second to breathe in the peacefulness.

“Charm?”

She opened her eyes and saw Dylan standing at the back door. “Yes.”

“You were asleep.”

“No, I was breathing in peace.”

He lifted a brow. “Breathing in peace?”

“Yes, it seems so peaceful here that you can actually breathe it in.”

He nodded. “For a minute there I thought you might have found my wine cellar.”

She smiled. “Do you have a wine cellar?”

“Yes, and it’s stocked so stay away from the red wine,” he warned.

She couldn’t help but grin. “I will.”

Things got quiet between them and she wondered, why was he looking at her like that? It was in a way that had her heart pounding crazily in her chest. And why was she staring back? And why were those sensations flowing toward the center of her legs again?

“Charm?”

She tried answering but for some reason no sound came out. Charm swallowed deeply, and tried her voice again. “Yes?”

“Ren is back, and I wanted to know if you’d like to meet him now?”

She nodded.

“He’s out in the barn. I’ll take you there.”

She stood and walked toward him. He looked so yummy in his jeans and shirt. And those shoulders—those powerful shoulders she had held on to when they’d kissed. The closer she got, the more she felt his magnetism, as if she was drawn to him. And heat vibrated between them with every step. The more she felt it, the more she wondered if seducing him and then rejecting him was something she could do.

Of course you can do it,she silently told herself.Dylan Emanuel means nothing to you anymore.Besides, you can handle a little physical attraction. No biggie.

“I’m ready,” she said, coming to a stop in front of him.

“Yes, you are.” He wrapped his arms around her waist. “I don’t want to rush you into anything, Charm. But damn, I want to kiss you. Ineedto kiss you.”

She saw heat in the depths of his dark eyes and knew she needed him to kiss her as well. “Then do it, Dylan. Kiss me.”

Sixteen

The moment Dylan’s mouth captured Charm’s, he realized there were a number of reasons why he should not be doing this. However, what dominated his mind more than anything was the fact that she’d told him to do it, and there was no way he would not oblige her...while satisfying himself. And he intended to satisfy her as well.

He wanted and needed this kiss. Desire clawed at him and he wanted her to feel that same intense hunger.
