But we know it’s not enough. So we infiltrated his trafficking ring and began taking down every one of his twisted, depraved sycophants. And with each blow we struck, more of that tangled web Red Hutchinson weaved began to come undone.

Fyre’s off to grab some more duct tape. I suggested we started ordering it in bulk. Because while we’ve made astounding progress in eradicating this kind of rot from the world, we still have a long way to go.

Red is starting to fade. His shrieks are tapering off. The pain has gone past the point where he can feel it anymore, and in a moment or two he’ll black out.

But in these final moments, enveloped in an anguish I can’t even begin to imagine, faced with the fact that all his power, all his influence, all the pain he caused couldn’t save him…in this sweet, poetic moment, Red starts to beg. He can’t form words without lips, but he tries. By God, he tries.

“…eeze…eeze…eeze…eeze…”

I look up at Fyre, and he smiles down at me before planting a tiny kiss on the tip of my nose. “Time to go, my girl,” he whispers. I nod, and let him lead me away.

“…eeze!” Red’s desperate shriek fills my dark little heart with joy.
