Though it was a daunting task, I nodded my head in agreement, determined to do my best. As Ethan headed towards the door, he paused for a moment, as if he had something else to say. I looked up at him expectantly, but he quickly continued on his way without another word.

With Ethan gone, I spent the rest of the day poring over the vast sea of files, determined to sift through the chaos and make sense of it all. As I worked, I jotted down my own thoughts and insights on different pages, adding to the growing stack of information on Ethan’s case.

During my lunch break, I ran into Emily, a colleague from the investigation department. Though we had never been close, we often found ourselves in each other’s company on various occasions. “So, how has your experience been so far?” she inquired, with a curious glint in her eyes.

I replied, “It’s been good, actually. Ethan is extremely dedicated and passionate about his work. He’s always been there to guide me whenever I needed his help. And Jack, too, has been very supportive and has provided me with proper guidelines whenever necessary.”

Emily nodded in approval and said, “That’s great to hear. If you have a good working relationship with Ethan, then you should definitely consider continuing your work here.”

I smiled and replied confidently, “Yes, I will do my best and strive to excel in my work.”

As the day progressed, I delved into one file after another, poring over every detail in my quest to organize and make sense of the information at hand. Jack walked in and was taken aback to see me still working in Ethan’s office. Sensing that it was getting late, he suggested that I leave. However, I was determined to give my all to this case and prove to Ethan that I was more than just a lover of fiction but had the skills and commitment to excel in real-life investigations. Although my experience in the investigation was limited, my bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science provided me with a solid foundation to pursue a career in this field. Additionally, my initial training under Ethan’s guidance proved invaluable in augmenting my knowledge. As a result, I was now well-equipped to work with greater proficiency and efficiency.

Ethan had yet to return, but for me, working late was not an unfamiliar experience. I had endured long shifts during my time atthe coffee shop, so staying after hours in the office was no foreign concept. However, I was not alone in this endeavor, as Ethan had a diverse team in each department for both morning and night shifts. His company boasted a highly esteemed reputation, and he personally took on only the most intricate cases. As a result, all other cases were left to be handled by his adept employees. Given the immense prestige of his work, there was an incessant abundance of tasks to attend to.

As the sound of a thunderstorm erupted, I instinctively covered my ears. Oh no, it seems like it’s going to rain soon. I have always been afraid of thunderstorms and the sound of the roaring clouds only intensified my fear. It was at that moment that Ethan walked into the office and was taken aback by my state. “Mia, are you alright?” he asked in surprise. I was unable to reply, still paralyzed with fear. Recognizing my distress, he comforted me with a gentle tone, “Calm down, but you have to leave early. The storm is getting worse and it’s not safe to stay here. I came to grab some important documents but the building is almost empty.”

I trembled as I replied, “I didn’t realize how late it had gotten. Jack had informed me that I could leave but I was still working.” The thunderstorm echoed once again, and the lights in Ethan’s office flickered on and off. I was trembling uncontrollably.

“I have a private room in the basement. I use it when I have to work late at night. You can stay there if you want. I don’t know how long this storm will last,” Ethan offered, sensing my discomfort. I nodded my head, grateful for the option. With a key from his pocket, Ethan opened a door on the side wall of his office, revealing a staircase that led to his basement room. The cozy room was a welcome refuge from the storm, and the sound of the thunder was muffled. I finally felt at ease.

“ Do you want something to drink or eat?” Ethan gestured towards the fridge, hoping I could find some canned food. As I sat down on the plush couch, I noticed the spacious room filled with an abundance of furniture. A wall-to-wall cupboard housed many books and documents, while a cozy bed sat tucked away in the corner. In the center of the room was a table and chair. Ethan reached for a bottle of wine from a cupboard and began sipping while I hesitantly asked for a glass. Without hesitation, he poured me one and we both sat in silence for a while. As the wine began to warm my body, I spoke without thinking about whether Ethan was listening or not. Memories from my childhood flooded my mind, of thunderstorms and seeking refuge behind my mother, while my brother teased me and I cried. “But we lost our parents at an early age,” I said, my voice thick with emotion. “ My father died in a car accident when I was three years old, and my mother died of cancer when I was thirteen. We were not from a wealthy family, but my mother worked very hard to give us a good life. After her death, my brother Alex and I were separated. I was too young to take care of myself, so I went to live with my aunt and uncle. I attended high school and worked part-time to help make ends meet. I soon got into a relationship with David, who seemed to be everything I was looking for. He was kind, supportive, and financially stable. He took on all of my responsibilities, and I was able to focus on my studies. However, after sometime, I discovered that David was cheating on me. I was devastated and heartbroken. I broke up with him and moved to this city, eventually, I found a job at the coffee shop and started a new life here.”

Ethan leaned forward, listening intently as I shared my story. “You asked me why I started this investigation firm. I was a carefree boy until someone killed my father, my role model, my hero. There was no trace of the murderer, despite the police’s best efforts. That was the moment I promised myself to become a successful investigator. It has been a challenging journey, but I have achieved my goal. While I have earned millions through my other businesses, this investigation firm is not a source of business but my passion.”

As we shared our personal stories, the storm raged on outside, barely reaching us in Ethan’s cozy basement room. It was a moment of unexpected vulnerability, yet it brought us closer together.

The wine started to take effect, and my body began to relax. My mind drifted to thoughts of Ethan, and my desires began to stir. I couldn’t deny the attraction I felt towards him. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn’t help the way I felt.

Ethan remained lost in thought, delving into his own past, and I was left alone with my thoughts and desires. I struggled to keep them in check, but the combination of the fear of the thunderstorm, Ethan's company, and the wine's effect were too much to resist. His chiseled features and muscular build were nothing short of striking, and I couldn’t help but feel my body respond to his undeniable sex appeal.

As I struggled to suppress my rising desire, I recalled Alex’s warning to stay away from Ethan. The thought of spending another night with him, enduring his rudeness, was unbearable. Maybe a good night’s sleep would help alleviate the tension. “I’m feeling sleepy,” I mumbled, heading towards the bed. Ethan’s piercing gaze followed my every move. I could sense the awkwardness in the air as I settled onto the bed, my body still trembling with desire. However, I knew I had to resist. Just then, I noticed Ethan getting up from his chair and making his way towards me. Despite my efforts to resist, his commanding presence overwhelmed me.

He sat down in front of me and spoke in a deep voice, “We have so many misunderstandings from our last encounter.”

I hesitated for a moment before responding in a trembling voice, “Yes… but… we can’t do whatever this is again.”

“I understand your concerns,” Ethan reassured me, but the intense attraction between us was undeniable. He sat so close to me that I could feel the heat emanating from his body. “I realize that Alex may not approve, but I am willing to make things right with him,” he continued, his voice dripping with confidence.

Despite my reservations, I couldn’t help but be drawn to him. I wanted to feel his touch, to be with him in that moment. “I don’t want to be just a fling for you,” I said, my voice heavy with desire. Ethan’s response was immediate.

He took my hand and leaned closer, his piercing gaze locking with mine. “You are not just a fling to me. You are the embodiment of beauty and grace,” he murmured, his voice soft and reassuring. My resolve crumbled under his intense presence, and I allowed myself to succumb to his advances. As our lips met, a rush of emotions overtook me. The taste of his lips was intoxicating.

Without a word, he drew me closer to him, wrapping his strong arm around my waist, while his other hand skillfully began to unbutton my shirt. As each button came undone, I could feel my heart racing with excitement. Soon, my shirt lay open before him, revealing my heaving breasts. Ethan wasted no time in pressing his lips against my soft flesh, sending electric shocks throughout my body. As he gently kissed the sensitive skin between my breasts, I couldn’t help but let out a soft moan of pleasure.

He took one of my breasts into his mouth, skillfully teasing and pleasuring me with his tongue and lips. I moaned softly as he switched between each breast, driving me wild with desire. Then Ethan returned to my mouth, kissing me deeply as his hands wandered down to my hips. I felt him start to tug at my pants, and I lifted my hips off the bed, allowing him to remove them. I was left lying there, completely exposed to him, and I felt a thrill of excitement course through my body. As Ethan pulled back, I could see the hunger in his eyes. He wasted no time in shedding his shirt with expert precision, the fabric sliding down his muscular frame with audible ease. His trousers followed suit, unhurried but deliberate, revealing toned legs that seemed to stretch on for miles. He was ready for me, and I knew I was ready for him. I spread my legs for him, wanting him to take me completely. Slowly, he entered me, inch by inch, and I gasped at the sensation. It was a mix of pleasure, pain, and the overwhelming feeling of being completely filled by him. Ethan started to move slowly but purposefully, hitting all the right spots with each thrust. I couldn’t hold back my moans any longer, my body writhing and responding to his skilled touches. The pleasure built and built until it became too much to hold back. My orgasm exploded through me, waves of pleasure coursing through my entire being as I cried out his name. Ethan didn’t slow down, continuing to move inside me, the feeling of his body against mine and the slippery sounds of our lovemaking filling the room. After we finished, I couldn’t deny that it was an incredible experience. Ethan had an innate talent for knowing just how and where to touch me, and my body still trembled with desire. However, as the passion subsided, a sense of unease began to creep up on me. How would I face my colleagues the next morning, let alone my brother? I turned to look at Ethan, and it was clear that we were both contemplating the same thing. Ethan’s mobile began ringing. He briefly glanced at the screen before turning his gaze towards me. Curious, I leaned in to read the caller’s name, and to my surprise, it was none other than Alex.

ETHAN

At that moment,I received an unexpected call from Alex. I couldn’t help but wonder if he had found out that Mia was with me tonight or if he was going to ask about Mia. As I looked towards Mia, she seemed nervous and tense, perhaps feeling the same as me. The call ended abruptly due to no response, but it started ringing again very soon. After hesitating for a moment, I finally decided to answer.

“I have some important information related to your case,” Alex said after exchanging initial greetings. I was taken aback, given that our last argument had ended on such a sour note. He was so furious and threatening at that time, warning me to stay away from Mia. However, his voice this time seemed calmer. It took me a moment to compose myself, considering the recent events involving his sister. This conversation was even more unexpected than that. “If you like, we can meet and I will provide you with the information. I believe you don’t know about it,” he said.

After a moment of hesitation, I responded, “Okay, you can come to my office.” But Alex had other plans. “No, we will meet at the street café,” he said firmly. I took a deep breath and replied, “Okay.” At that moment, I didn’t want to argue with Alex, especially after just spending a night with his sister, against his warnings.

My mind was racing as I hung up the phone. What could this information be, and how would it affect our investigation? I knew I had to find out, and soon.
