Rayne smiled against his lips, and Felix knew there was no way that things were going to get any better than this.

Once the men surrounding Fayez had left, Luka silently advanced through the darkness. Since he was downwind, there was no way for the vampire to detect him. When he was close enough, he plunged a silver dagger into the back of his target, directly behind his heart.
Fayez gasped and arched his back before going slack in Luka’s grip. He placed Fayez on the ground, wiped his blade off on the vampire’s shirt, and then murmured under his breath, “That’s from Eleazar.”
But it was too late for the guy to hear him. Fayez was already dead. After making sure no one had seen him, Luka vanished into the night.
