“I can’t believe your grilled cheese isn’t even on the menu,” Jamison says.

“Maybe I’ll have to add it.” His laugh rumbles through the empty restaurant.

We ended up sitting at the table closest to the bar so we could talk to him. He still hasn’t stopped apologizing.

“Can I get you another lemon drop? Manhattan?”

“Two’s my limit or I get loopy,” I say, holding my hand up. As it is, I don’t feel loopy, but I have a nice happy buzz.

“I’m good too, thank you,” Jamison says. “This has been so nice.”

“Well, you’re welcome to stay in here as long as you want, or I can show you the dome. My wife calls it the bubble. If that doesn’t suit you, she’s got a room…or two ready at the house.”

I glance at Jamison and a bolt of heat steamrolls through me. My body is loose from the orgasm and alcohol, but I only want more of him. The desire in his eyes makes me glad I’m still sitting down.

“I’m fascinated about the bubble,” he says. “I think we have to see it, don’t we?”

I nod, my eyes locked on his.

Blake rubs his hands together. “I’m pretty excited to show you. It’s been a really fun project. Come on, let’s get out there. It’s probably best if we get settled wherever we’re going to be before too long. It doesn’t seem like it’s slowing down at all out there.”

We stand and follow Blake through the restaurant, into the kitchen, and out the back door. Blake leads the way with a big lantern and it’s a good thing—I don’t think our cell phone lights would have cut it.

It’s already snowed at least six inches and I’m glad I went with my over-the-knee boots instead of the heels I almost wore. We trudge down a path away from the restaurant and house and when he stops, he tries to shine the light on the dome as best he can.

“It’s all clean and should be plenty warm.” His keys are jangling as he shuffles to the right one and unlocks the door made of glass. When he turns the light on, I gasp.

“Blake. This is a dream,” I say, turning in a circle, completely enchanted.

It really is a large glass bubble and has the prettiest bed piled high in snowy white linens. A small wooden tray sits at the end of the bed with a decanter of rum or bourbon maybe, and two crystal glasses. At the foot of the bed, there’s a plush alpaca rug.

“It’s truly magical when you can see the view,” he says, shaking his head. “Stars like you can’t believe.”

“Heaven,” I whisper.

“I’m blown away,” Jamison says. “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Blake beams. “Thank you. We’ve really enjoyed it. Taken up star-gazing. If you like it out here, you can come back and stay on a clear night.” He motions behind him. “The bathroom’s not much, but I didn’t want to ever make Camilla trudge outside. And I should tell you, no one can see in from the outside.” He chuckles.

There are no doors, but there is a curtain where the toilet is, the wood flooring shifting to tile just for the space around the shower. My body heats at the thought of staying in this intimate space with Jamison.

I used the restroom at the restaurant, but I doubt I can go all night without using this one. It might be ridiculous that I’m shy about that when I’ve had sex with him, but…I don’t imagine getting over that any time soon.

“Well, I wanted you to at least see it,” Blake says, clasping his hands together. “More than happy to take you to the house now, if you’d prefer that.”

Jamison looks at me and reads my face right because he nods and turns to Blake. “We’d love to stay right here, if you’re okay with that.”

“Absolutely. You’ve got my number. Let me know if you need anything. I have a jet ski parked near the hot tub…it’s such a shame it’s not a clearer night. But if you change your mind and want to come to the house or need anything, here are the keys.”

“Thank you, Blake. Are you okay getting back to the house with it like this?”

“Oh, yeah. I’ll be fine. But I’ll shoot you a text to let you know when I’m inside, just to be on the safe side.” He grins and turns toward the door. “You guys make a cute couple, by the way,” he says.

He taps on the door and leaves, the quick burst of frigid air sweeping through the room.

Jamison turns to look at me. “You okay with him knowing we’re a couple?” he teases.

“Are we?” I ask.
