I know nothing.

Now, all I can hear right now is that girl onGame of Throneswho snarls, “You know nothing, Jon Snow...”

I’m Jon Fucking Snow, only taller and not as skilled in battle.

Enough of this shit. Where is she?

I’m going to call her until she answers and demand she tells me exactly where she is so I can bring her home.

My phone buzzes, interrupting my spiral. I press my screen so fast, my hand shaking when I see that it’s her.

“Hello?”

“Hey, my love!” Her voice fills my truck and then she starts laughing. “Sorry, that wasloud. I’m just excited that I finally got you. We’ve had spotty reception for the past hour.”

“We’ve? What’s going on, Sof? Where the hell are you?” I’m surprised my voice is as steady as it is.

“Oh…let’s see. I’m still in Texas for another…130 miles or so. This state takes forever to drive through.” She pauses. “Are you there?”

“I’m here.” My heart is thumping so fast, I don’t trust myself to say more than that.

“I’m sorry I didn’t get ahold of you before I left. And we just kept missing each other. There was an emergency with Marlow. We’re driving a U-Haul back right now. Well, we’re at a gas station at thisexactmoment, but…anyway.” She laughs. “They’re coming to Landmark…I think to stay. Can you believe it?”

I run my hands through my hair, my breath ragged as I exhale. “I thought you fucking left me, Firefly.”

“What?” she gasps. “Theo.” Her voice cracks. “I’m so sorry, baby. I’m so, so sorry. I’m not leaving you, ever. I swear it, Theo. Do you hear me? Marlow called me in a panic, and I dropped everything to go to her and Dakota. My phone died and we just kept missing each other.”

I blink rapidly to keep the road from going completely blurry in front of me.

“I hear you. I love you so much,” I tell her.

“I loveyou. Do you hate me?” She’s crying now and I fucking hate that I made her cry.

“I’ve never been able to hate you. Never will. I’ve been a wreck, but as soon as I got my head out of my ass, I was going to start searching the entire state of Texas and beyond until I found you.”

“I can’t get to you soon enough,” she says. “We’ve got about eight hours to go, but we’ll also gain an hour because of the time change. As long as everything keeps going smoothly, I should be home by seven tonight.”

“I can’t wait to see you. I’m sorry I ever doubted—”

“It’s okay.” Her voice is soft and achingly sweet. “We both have scars that will take a while to heal. But we will…together.”

“Are Marlow and Dakota okay?”

“I’ll fill you in on everything when I get home.”

“Okay. Please drive safely.”

I tell her I love her again, her words returned filling me with more hope than I thought possible. When we hang up, I glance at myself in the rearview mirror and get so queasy, I pull over on the side of the road and throw up. Fred whines in the truck and I rub between his ears as I open the door, spitting one more time before I climb back inside.

Sofie’s right. We both have battle scars from everything we’ve been through, but after the past few days and all we’ve confronted, I like to think we’ve bypassed several steps in our road of recovery and are now in coasting range.

I vow to myself to never doubt her love again. The days will come, days my insecurities sneak in and send me spiraling, but I know that she loves me with the same fierce love I feel for her. And there isnothingthat can tear that apart.
