“Me and the Sons of Gods . . . we’re going to help you pay for art school,” he tells me, a proud smile spreading across his face.

My breath catches in my throat, and I blink rapidly as I try to process this new information. The weight of their kindness presses down on me, both humbling and overwhelming. I shake my head, my voice barely a whisper. “You don’t have to do that, Dion.”

“Of course, we don’t have to, but we want to. You’re family now, Rebellion, and we take care of our own.” He reaches out and strokes my cheek with his thumb.

The dam holding back my emotions finally bursts, and I’m unable to hold back my tears. The years of longing, of feeling trapped and hopeless, are finally coming to an end. My dreams are within reach, and it’s all because of the people who have come into my life—especially Dion.

“Hey, hey,” Dion says, concern etching his face as he wraps his arms around me. “Did I say something wrong? Are you okay?”

I nod against his chest, my voice choked with emotion. “I’m more than okay. I just . . . I’m so happy, Dion.” I sniffle, trying to regain some semblance of composure. “Happier than words can express. I never thought I’d get this chance, and now . . . it’s all happening.”

Dion holds me tighter, his strong arms providing a sense of safety and comfort that I’ve craved for so long. “You deserve this.”

“Thank you,” I whisper, pulling away just enough to look into Dion’s eyes. “Thank you for everything. I don’t know how I can ever repay you and the Sons of Gods for all you’ve done.”

Dion smiles softly. “You don’t have to repay us, Rebellion. This is what family does for each other.”

The words wrap around my heart like the warmest embrace, and suddenly, I realize there’s something else I need to say. Something that’s been building inside me since the moment I met Dion.

“I love you,” I tell him, the words slipping out as easily as breathing.

For a moment, Dion simply stares at me as if he’s trying to make sure he heard me correctly. Then, his face breaks into a grin so wide it seems to light up the entire room. “I love you too,” he says, pulling me back into his arms.

As we stand there, wrapped in each other’s embrace, I feel a sense of peace wash over me. It’s a feeling I’ve never experienced before—knowing that I’m loved and cared for by someone who would do anything for me.

“Rebellion,” Dion begins, his voice serious but gentle. “There’s something else I wanted to talk to you about.” He pauses, taking a deep breath. “I know it might be difficult for us to be apart while you’re in art school, and I don’t want you to think that just because you’re going to Savannah, I won’t be there for you. I’ve talked to Zeus about it, and he’s on board with the idea of me splitting my time between Savannah and Birmingham if that’s what you want.”

I blink in surprise, touched by his commitment to our relationship. The thought of being apart from Dion is painful, but I also don’t want to hold him back from his own life and responsibilities. “Are you sure?” I ask hesitantly. “I don’t want to be a burden or cause any problems for the club.”

“You’re not a burden,” Dion reassures me, his voice firm. “You’re my heart. And Zeus understands that. He knows how important you are to me, and he’s willing to make it work so we can be together.”

My heart swells with happiness at Dion’s words, and I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face. “I want you with me always,” I say softly, searching his eyes for any sign of hesitation.

“Good,” Dion breathes out, relief washing over his face. “Because I can’t imagine being without you either.”

As we sit together in the truck, just outside the art school, Dion’s hand finds mine, and he squeezes it gently. His warmth seeps into my skin, grounding me in this beautiful moment. It’s still hard to believe that all of this is real—the art school, Dion’s love, our future together.

“There’s one more thing I’ve been wanting to ask you.” Dion’s fingers trace circles on the back of my hand, sending shivers down my spine.

“What is it?”

Dion takes a deep breath. “I know things have been moving pretty fast between us, but I want you to know how much you mean to me. And I want everyone else to know it too.” His blue eyes burn with an intensity I’ve never seen in them before. “So, I wanted to ask if you’d be my ol’ lady—officially.”

My breath stutters in my chest as the significance of his words sinks in. Being an ol’ lady means more than just being someone’s girlfriend. It’s a commitment to stand by each other through thick and thin, to support and protect one another. It’s a public declaration of our love and loyalty, not just to each other but to the club as well.

The thought of taking on such a role both excites and terrifies me. But when I look into Dion’s eyes, I know that I’d follow him anywhere, just as he’s willing to follow me to Savannah.

“Are you sure?” I ask again, needing to hear him confirm his intentions. “I mean, it’s a big step.”

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life,” Dion says, his voice unwavering. “You’re the woman I want by my side, always. And I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe and happy.”

As I study his face, searching for any sign of doubt or uncertainty, I find only love. And at that moment, all my fears and hesitations vanish. I know without a doubt that being with Dion is where I’m meant to be.

“Then yes,” I say, my voice steady and full of conviction. “Yes, Dion, I’ll be your ol’ lady.”

His eyes light up, and the joy in his smile is contagious. He pulls me close, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Thank you,” he whispers, his breath hot against my skin. “For everything, Rebellion. You’ve changed my life.”
