“I have a meeting with the team at zero eight hundred. Whoever the arsehole was who scheduled it so early is in big trouble.”

“I’m guessing you scheduled it.”

She smiled over her shoulder. “And as much as I’d like to stay right where I am and forget yesterday’s events, I cannot.”

“I should check on Jada,” I said when she sat up.

“How was she last night?”

“Frail, but there were signs of the girl I’ve known since she was a toddler.”

“Her recovery won’t be easy.”

I murmured my agreement.

Jaicon was looking at something on her phone, and her brow furrowed.

“Anything I can help with?”

“Tank was looking for me. He has my bag. I suppose it wouldn’t do to tell him to bring it here.”

I walked over to her. “I will make arrangements to get it from him and bring it here myself.”

“I suppose, that way, you don’t have to explain.”

My brow furrowed like hers had been. “I have no reason to keep your staying here a secret. Unless, of course, you want me to.”

“I just assumed…Well, you know what they say about that.”

“I wouldn’t want anyone to know?”

She nodded. “Then again, it isn’t as if anything happened.”

“I consider the kiss we shared to be something. Waking up with you in my arms, that was too.”

“Tryst…”

“Whatever it is, say it. I will respect your wishes.”

“I want to spend time with you, meaning when we’re not working. I just…it doesn’t feel right. I mean, intimacy.”

“I agree.”

We embraced, and she put her head on my chest. “I really like you, Tryst.”

I smiled. “I really like you too.”

She leaned up, brushed my lips with hers, then let go. “I should probably change into clothes I haven’t slept in.”

“Take a shower. I’ll retrieve your bag. It will be waiting for you here when you’re finished. If you need anything else, I won’t be far. I’m going to check on Jada.”

“Such a gentleman.”

I grinned and winked. “Not always.”
