“She would be devastated.”

“Hey,Tryst. I didn’t know Jacy was comin’ back,” said Tex, approaching me as I watched her interact with the horse.

“Neither did I.”

“Pleasant surprise, then?”

“The best.”

Tex rubbed my shoulder. “I’m happy for you, Tryst. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.”

“Many thanks.” Tex was about to walk away, but I called him back.

“There is one thing, but you’ll need help from some of the others.”

“Anything. Just name it, boss.”

We walked a few steps farther away from the corral. “These are the GPS coordinates,” I said after explaining what I wanted him to do.

“I’ll get right on it as soon as they’re done.” He motioned with his head to the corral.

“They’re done.” I smiled and called out to Jacy. “Ready?”

She kissed the horse’s nose, then came bounding over to me.

“I’m anxious for you to see the amazing work that’s been done,” I said, taking her hand.

“I’m so intrigued.” When we rounded a bend and the meditation center was in view, she gasped. “How?”

“I have many friends who showed up to help.”

“Caballeros, by any chance?” She winked.

“Maybe.”

When we approached the entrance, I asked her to close her eyes, then led her inside. “Okay, open.”

She put her hands on her cheeks, and her eyes filled with tears. “Tryst, I’m speechless. It’s so beautiful. The floors are gorgeous.”

I walked over to the wall switch and flipped it. “Come.” We both toed off our shoes, and I led her to the center of the space.

“Heat!” she said several seconds later. “How brilliant!”

“George will appreciate the compliment.”

Her eyes scrunched.

“He is an architect and a dear friend of mine.”

“What’s over there?” she asked, pointing.

“Those arepuja—sacred rooms.”

She nodded and turned toward the windows.

“Jaicon?”

“Yes?”
