My brain was throwing out questions I didn’t understand, because my body had already tuned it out.

As Hudson jerked his hand away from me and went to take a step back, I found myself moving forward, pushing off the wall to cut the distance between us.

This time it was Hudson’s back that hit the wall, only I didn’t have any angry words or questions to throw at him. Not when all I could focus on was wanting that heat back between us. It was a feeling I would’ve sworn would never happen again, but the second he’d touched me, it flared back to life—combine that with alcohol lowering my inhibitions, and all bets were off.

Hudson didn’t move, didn’t seem to breathe, as he watched me step toward him. My heart was beating so fast I thought I might black out, but if I stopped, if I blinked, this moment would be over. Whatever the hell it was.

My foot bumped the side of his as I got closer, and the second our hips connected, he sucked in a breath.

That was when he made a mistake.

His gaze dropped to my lips—and I made my move.

HUDSON

THE BARTENDER MUST’VE put something stronger than club soda in my drink, because there was no way I was thinking clearly. Not when anger had come over me at the bar and I’d dragged Drew away. Not when I’d pushed him against the wall and held him there.

And definitely not now, when Drew was only inches away from me.

My whole body instantly went still. For some reason, I couldn’t move. All I could do was stare at the dark blue eyes pinning mine and struggle for breath.

In an instant, Drew broke eye contact, dropping his gaze to my mouth, and before I knew what was happening, his lips were on mine.

My head hit the wall behind me with a dull thud as his hands moved to my chest. He was hungry and tasted like lime and tequila, a combination I hadn’t had in years, but now I remembered why I liked it so much back then.

He deepened the kiss, gripping the back of my neck, and I grasped at his suit jacket, fisting the lapels in my hand so hard that I wasn’t sure whether I was drawing him closer or getting ready to throw him off me.

I should’ve done the latter, but then Drew moaned inside my mouth, and it sent my dick into a fucking frenzy. My hips jerked forward, sliding up against Drew’s erection, and…shit. I was in so much trouble.

In the back of my mind I knew this wasn’t right, but damn, I couldn’t deny how good it felt in the moment. All that anger I’d been throwing his way was starting to fade, but in its place was something far more dangerous. Something I couldn’t seem to resist.

All thought vanished as Drew nipped at my lip, and then he delved back inside, gliding his tongue against mine in a way that had me glad I was up against a wall. He moved one hand from the back of my neck down to my pec, then reached the other one down between us and stroked my cock over my pants.

I gasped, thrusting into his hand, and that was when he broke our kiss to whisper against my lips, “I knew when I saw you again you’d taste this good.”

He moved back in and kissed me again, and I hesitated.

When he saw me again? At the Fallen Angel concert?

Slowly, the fog began to lift from my brain, and then…

Wait. What was I doing? Had this been Drew’s plan all along? Have his way with me as a distraction so he could scoop up Viper’s deal behind my back?

It made sense. Drew was an assertive guy. He took what he wanted, when he wanted, no fucks given.

Remembering that made something click inside me, and I ripped my mouth away and shoved him off me.

Drew stumbled back, blinking in surprise.

My God…what a mess.

I shook my head and wiped my mouth with the sleeve of my jacket. How the hell did I fall for that? It wasn’t like me to have such a lapse in judgment, but one dark hallway with Drew and I’d lost it.

He stared at me like he wanted to ask what was wrong, but he could get the fuck out with that.

“Don’t,” I said, holding my hand out when he took a step toward me. “Don’t even think about it.”
