Ouch. That stung.

I’d already heard the comparisons to Hudson once I brought him around my parents. His family owned a rival publishing company, and he was on the same track I was, only he actually liked the studying shit that I hated.

I mean…I had other talents.

Like throwing a killer party.

“Fix this, Drew.”

My dad hung up without another word, and I dropped my head into my hands, wondering if the ground spinning was from the drinks or the reaming I just got.

How the hell was I gonna write my final tonight with my head swimming and a rager downstairs? I couldn’t even remember what I’d thought I should do the essay on.

What a damn nightmare.

Hudson: Where are you?

Well, there was one person who didn’t think I was a colossal fuck-up. It looked like I’d be spending the rest of the night righting my wrongs, so I may as well go see my boyfriend and tell him good night.

This was so not the way things were supposed to go.

I ignored my name being called to join the fray in the living room, and made my way upstairs without falling over too many drunk people. Thankfully, the brothers’ rooms were off-limits during parties, so there was no one to see me sneak into Hudson’s room.

“Jesus, I was about to send out a search party,” he said, caging me in by the door and turning the lock. I could smell the sweet liquor on his breath as he kissed a path from my neck to my lips while he fumbled at the button of my jeans.

“Sorry, my dad called.”

He halted his movements and leaned back to look at me. “Oh. Is everything okay?”

How to tell my boyfriend I was a failure? It was bad enough my dad thought so, but there was no way I could face Hudson if he knew everything I’d been working toward, I’d wasted.

No. I couldn’t do that. I’d never lied to him before, but this wasn’t really a lie, was it? Just an…omission.

Plastering on my best smile, I nodded. “Yeah, just overprotective checking in. You know how he is.”

Hudson ground his hips over mine, his alcohol-glazed eyes glinting with mischief. “You should’ve told him you’re with me. You know he approves.” He sucked on my bottom lip until I groaned. “No need to worry. I’ll take veeery good care of you.”

I tried to push my dad’s words out of my head and focus in on a more pleasing distraction, because there was nothing as cute as a drunk Hudson. But that was how I’d ended up in danger of failing, wasn’t it? Being so consumed by all the fun I was having and leaving everything else on the back burner.

“H…there’s too many people here.”

“I locked the door.”

“But—”

“Are you gonna make me beg?” Hudson pushed his hand inside my briefs and gave my cock a rough stroke.

My head fell back against the door with a dull thud. “If this is your version of begging, then yes. Beg away.”

As Hudson dropped to his knees, I speared my hands through his hair, guiding his hot mouth to take as much of me as his gag reflex would allow. I sank into the feeling, letting him work away my stress until nothing remained other than him…

We’d never make it back to the party. It was so easy to zone in on Hudson and forget about the rest of the world.

HOURS AFTER I’D snuck out of his room and back to my own to not risk getting caught, I was still awake, struggling for the words for the essay. I didn’t have the faintest clue what I was talking about, and the bullshit I was typing to fill up ten pages wasn’t going to get me anything other than a one-way ticket to retake the class.

To not graduate with Hudson.

To lose the opportunity my dad would now be giving to someone else.
