Lion’s breath.

I pulled out my tongue and began panting through it. Fast.

Raymond and I were both standing in the darkness, just inches away from one another. H looked at me like I’d gone crazy. I avoided his eyes and concentrated on breathing. A few minutes later, my racing heart slowed down and the ground finally steadied beneath my feet.

“Thank you,” I whispered looking at him, all the fear gone from my eyes. I really couldn’t see anything except him.

He nodded grimly. There was an uncomfortable silence which stretched out till he broke it.

“How long have you had this fear of the dark?”

“Since seven.” I replied hoarsely.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

I responded by settling into a chair closer to the candle, he followed suit with the sofa opposite mine, and my eyes got lost in my memories as I stared unblinkingly into the candle flames remembering.

“It was a pretty normal evening. Mom and Dad had left me with my babysitter to attend an evening function.”

My eyes grew clouded, but I plunged on.

“The babysitter was on the phone with her boyfriend, she didn’t know when I wandered down the hall into Mom and Dad’s room. I had always wanted to peek into their closet, and I finally found an opportunity that night.”

I shuddered briefly, Raymond’s encouraging stare was enough for me to go on.

“I don’t know how I managed to reach the door but I was able to get it open, and I walked in. However it had a lock that could close itself from outside and as soon as my small frame fit into the closet, the door closed behind me.”

I smiled sadly.

“Mom was the one who found me the next morning, a shivering mess, scared out of her wits. They fired the babysitter but since then I’ve never slept without the lights on.”

I drew a deep shuddering breath as I shook off the icy memories and smiled brightly. A little too brightly.

“The great part is I always followed them to every event they attended afterwards.”

Raymond stayed where he was and studied me like he did the first day we met. With fascinated eyes tinged with compassion. Then he stood up off the couch and walked towards me, his eyes veiled. My heart started pounding slowly as he approached.

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

“Better. Thank you for being understanding.”

“Don’t feel ashamed because of your fear of the dark. We all have our fears, some darker than most. What’s most important is how we overcome them.”

His hand moved up to snake into my hair and briefly caressed my chin tenderly. My eyes widened as he suddenly descended bringing my face up close and plunged my mouth ruthlessly. It was electrifying thinking about his incredible physique as our mouths engaged. I pulled back speechless and realizing my surprise. “That’s sudden and wow,” I said slowly.

“You’re beautiful, and your story took guts to share with me. It’s dark now, but you’re with me. I’ll watch out for you. Your whole aura is irresistible,” he said gazing at me with his magazine cover face.

He reached back out for me, pulling me close gently, kissing me again. I released a soft moan as I pressed my lips against his and he kissed me hard. Desire flashed through me, hot and intense like lightning, and feverishly I grabbed on to him tightly.

“Sophie!” He groaned against my mouth as he grinded his body against mine, working through the buttons on my blouse before seizing a nipple into his mouth. A tremor went through me and I gasped at the force of our passions. A slight breeze brew suddenly and the cold chill brought me back to reality. Things were moving too fast.

“Raymond,” With a gasp, I freed my mouth looking into his dark eyes. They were expressionless.

“I don’t think we’re ready for this.”

“You think?” he pulled my hips back towards his erection, his brows raised in question. I could feel the slight bulge nestling against my belly.

I took a step back, boobs out and the bottom of my shirt swaying in the breeze. There was a long silence where neither of us could speak, just staring into each other’s eyes; he glanced down at my revealed chest then back up into my eyes. Then he broke the silence.
