His hand smacked down on her cheek—hard. A lightning strike across her body. It was the hardest she’d ever come.

He gave her no time to recover. Hands on her hips, his thrusts were deep and punishing, and so, so good.

She bit her lip, another wave threatening as he tore into her over and over and over again. “That’s it, Madison. Listen as your body sucks me in.”

It’s all she could hear. His voice. His body slamming into hers. How wet he made her.

There was no holding back. She could feel it—his body firing up, ready to explode.

Her hand gripped his thigh, driving her nails into his skin. “Yes,” he cried out. And again. “Fuck. Yes!”

His body jerked as he gripped her, riding the last waves of ecstasy as she climaxed around him. Their world didn’t tilt. It fucking exploded.

Panting and gasping for air, Alex collapsed beside her, wrapping himself around her as he pulled her against him, his pounding heart against her back.

With tender hands, he brushed the hair from her cheek, kissing her along her cheek, neck, and shoulder.

And staying together like that, falling asleep, his body locked in hers.

CHAPTER20

ALEX

Early the next morning, he left.

Alex slipped out while it was still pitch black outside. She was the most beautiful he’d ever seen her, and if he hadn’t left when he did, he wouldn’t.

His call to Paco the night before was fruitful. He had two texts waiting: coordinates and an address.

He didn’t recognize the address, and neither did GPS. Hence the reason for the coordinates, which only served to deepen his confusion.

After hours on the road, he finally pulled to a long drive and a guarded gate.

Before he uttered a word, the guard’s response sliced his thoughts like a knife. “Yes, Mr. Drake. She’s expecting you.”

The words hung in the air, amplifying his sense of unease. She’s expecting you.

How? And how could she be living here? Last he saw her, she was confined. Strapped to a straight-jacket and thrown in a padded cell.

The guard pressed a button, and the steel gates swung wide. He punched through his emotions—a surge of trepidation with a face slap of guilt—and drove through.

The gravel crunched beneath the wheels of his car as he slowly drove forward, the mansion growing larger before him.

Why is she here?

He parked and stepped out. The sprawling grounds were alive with rosebushes and butterflies. An elegant fountain sat in the drive, and birds sung with glee. It was a home fit for Marie Antoinette herself, and a stark contrast to her past.

Theirpast.

Unease gnawed at the pit of his gut.Leave. Just leave. But, he couldn’t do that. Before him was a piece of a puzzle that no matter how hard he pressed, refused to find a home in his life.

With determined steps, he approached the entrance. Two towering doors loomed before him, with no doorbell in sight.Of course.

With a deep breath, he knocked.

Memories of their last encounter flooded forward. Glass shattering against a wall. A cheap vase from the table—it was the only thing she could grab. Throwing it has been her last ditch to avoid being restrained.

Oddly, the straight jacket was the last nail in the coffin, finally extinguishing the pain in her eyes. Granted, it could’ve been the sedative.
